As the year draws to a close and as Christmas gets closer, the gift-buying and sales are reaching something of a fevered pitch. However, this is the time of year where I like to sit back, take stock, and think about the things I have been given over the past year that turned out to be the most useful things I could have gotten.
It’s a given that, working somewhere like BuyDig, I’m a bit of a gadget geek. I have multiple computers, multiple gaming consoles, a smartphone, and an eReader. However, out of all of these things, I’m finding that the eReader I have is easily my favorite and most frequently used gadget. I’ve been a big-time reader since I was a little kid and I love that I can browse through my entire library and select any book I want to read from it within seconds. No more having to hunt down where I put the book or which shelf it’s on. Just a few button presses and I’m reading it.
I also love that I can carry my entire library with me and not feel the extra weight. Frequently, when I would go on vacation or trips in the past, I carried at least five books with me. Five books with an average page count of over 1000. And some of those were available only in hardback. That adds up to a lot of extra weight in the luggage. But now, with an eReader, I can carry around close to one hundred books and the eReader does not get any heavier.
So, as we approach the shipping deadline for Christmas and everyone gets ready to spend time with their families and friends over the holidays, what gadget will you be carrying with you? For me, it will definitely be my eReader.
