  Lasted 7 months By Jerry on June 16, 2015 Review submitted for Asus Q501LA-BSI5T19 15.6" (1920x1080) IPS Touch Screen i5-4200U Notebook PC - REFURB (ASQ501LABSI5T19RB) Pros: Wonderful machine. No complaints until last week. See the Cons: Cons: I turn the machine on and get the BIOS screen, will not boot. Tried a USB enclosure and see the lights blink as it reads the drive but won't boot. Replaced the drive with three different known good drives, including two SSD's, and it will not boot.The BIOS identifies the drives and shows their serial number so the drives are valid. Put the drives in other machines and they work just fine. The SSD that I have been using, with W10 TP 10130, is now in my Old Compaq V6000 and it works just fine. Well it works but is choking on two gig of ram. But I am using it. Other Comments: I bought it as a refurb and now wish I had purchased the extended warranty. Asus tech support said a new motherboard will cost at least $210. Add shipping etc and I am looking at investing about $300 in this machine. I was completely satisfied with my initial $500 purchase but now I have to spend another $300 to get a machine that hopefully will give me at least a year of use. Bottom line a new machine with an extended warranty would have been the best way to go. Have not decided to do with my Brick. Until last week I thought I had the best laptop in the world.   Great laptop for the money. Cons: Need two hands to open the lid because the hinge requires more force than the weight of the base.
