Review submitted for Asus UL20A-A1 Thin Light 12.1 -Inch Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) (ASUL20AA1)
Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Lightweight, Quiet, Long Battery Life, Fast
Cons: Display viewing angles
Other Comments: We bought the laptop for a three week vacation in Europe. Was perfect for the tasks: watching hi-def videos, photo storage and organization, word processing and web browsing. If you want to do processor intensive tasks, make sure to put it in a full-throttle power mode. Laptop is light, I carried it in a backpack for many days. It survived a fall down the stairs, so it is pretty tough. Doesn't get too hot even after prolonged use, the fan hardly ever comes on. Doesn't have HDMI out, but the VGA connector works fine. Viewing angle of the screen is poor and it takes some adjusting to make it work for two people. Web cam is pretty poor quality, but good enough for Skype. Speakers are loud, but it helps to use a media player like VLC that allows you to increase the volume by 400%. The power cord and converter are very small and light, and there are three velcro straps in the package for managing cords. Dual-core processor is a must, this model is a perfect blend of power and energy consumption. Comes with many Asus utilities. Some are good: face-recognition login, and the useless ones can be uninstalled easily. Battery life was close to as advertised. In the most power-saving mode, we could get around 7.5 hours. In full-throttle mode, battery life is more around 4-5 hours.
