DACPort HD Portable Reference DAC Amp with DSD
(CENDACPORTHD)
Pros: * low impedance output
* no audible noise or distortion - THD+N stays low enough even under moderate load (was measured with 30KHz low pass filter; I definitely cannot hear THD below 0.01%, and if you feel like your hearing abilities are way better than that - ignore this statement)
* enough power and voltage swing to drive adequately loudly majority of dynamic headphones
* small to fit in your pocket, yet you will hardly feel major need for a better device to listen to music with most headphones
* DSD support (if you care to set up)
Cons: * Windows requires a driver (available on CEntrance website, win10 still in beta), works as is in macOS though
* gain switch is a bit weird (need a pen or pencil to reach it)
* audible click when turned on (not enough to damage anything, just a tiny bit annoying)
* noticeably heats up when used, wouldn't try to connect it to tablets or mobile phones due to energy consumption concerns (even if it works)
* wouldn't recommend to use it as DAC if amplifier connected to it cannot deal with high-frequency noise (have some doubts on ultrasonic components it might generate beyond 30KHz, which is not important for headphones and beyond human hearing limits too)
Other Comments: a very nice little device to use with your computer when bigger DAC/headphone amp is not practical - a perfect match for office or occasional travel with a laptop
Yes, I recommend this product
