This is a great lens that can be used as a general purpose lens. It's not as tight as a 50mm and acts closer to a 35mm lens because of the crop factor. I wouldn't take close portraits or headshots with it (unless that's your style), but it's great for indoor use, tight areas and group photos. It can also be used for landscape photography. Image quality is really sharp and pretty impressive considering that this isn't an L series lens. Bokeh is alright, obviously not as good as it could be on a full frame. Also, at 2.8, don't expect it to have as good bokeh as wider primes. The build quality is also very, very solid. Definitely one of the better built lenses that I've had.
One of the notable cons of this lens is the very slight but noticeable color fringing. That's typical of a wide angle lens and is only visible when pixel peeping. Distortion isn't noticeable.
One of the best qualities about this lens is that its lightweight and compact, so it's easy to bring around. This stays on my camera more than any of my other lenses.
