Review submitted for Celestron CGEM-800 Computerized Telescope 8.0" Catadioptric Telescope Kit (CT11097)
Pros: Easy to Use, Compact, Quality Lenses, Accurate, Strong Construction
Cons: Difficult To Focus, Heavy
Other Comments: You will probably want a case to put it in. I use the Pelican 1610 for the mount and the 1620 for the optics. The Pelican 1470 is great for your eyepieces. Toss the finderscope and get a green laser pen. Orion has a mounting bracket. This especially makes polar align easier. With polar align you have to physically move the telescope to point at a star and you don't want to have to keep moving your eye to the finderscope. I am very impressed with the accuracy of the motors. After 2-star align and 4 calibration stars it centers anything you want to "go to." I was able to photograph M51 from my driveway even though I can never see it due to the street lights. There is a little smearing in long duration photos but that will be reduced after I do some PEC runs using Celestron's PECtools. Of course you can get an autoguider that plugs into the mount and fixes any tracking errors. Focusing is OK for viewing but for astrophotography you will want to buy a focuser and a Bahtinov mask. If you're only going to be viewing then get the NexStar 8SE and save some money. The heavy mount is great for photos.
