Wireless Network Surveillance Camera Built-In Wi-Fi Extender - DCS-931L
(DLIDCS931L)
Pros: Seems very reliable and the picture is very clear and distinct. I have had it working 24/7 in an outdoor environment (which it is not designed for) since I received it over two weeks ago with no apparent issues. It has been in direct sunlight, freezing night time temps, and heavy rain and just keeps plugging along...
Cons: Sound activation is too sensitive (even at least sensitivity - the dB scale is ridiculously wrong) and not sufficiently directional. The motion detector works OK, but is not great...
Other Comments: While the hardware works fine, the software that you download is another issue. It has no instructions, contains minimal help and is not what I would call intuitive. It is also designed to work with all the D-link cameras, so it includes features that you cannot use with this camera unit. That is not immediately obvious and can lead to some frustration when you try to use a feature that the camera does not support. The software for live viewing works great, especially on a smartphone, but the downloadable video capture and storage software also has no instructions and is virtually impossible to figure out. Over the course of two weeks I have still been unable to figure out how to schedule and record a video for the upcoming night and when I have managed to record something, it is very difficult to figure out how to rapidly view the whole thing. I seems to be divided into segments that are not linked together - you see a minute or two and then it repeats itself.
