Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: The Good: - Package is impressive for the price offered. My purchase box contained: Lens, lens pouch, 3 filters (ND2, ND4, Sky) for rear side of lens, 2x extender all at very very low price, almost price of one filter for my other lens! - This is a very high reach super tele range at such a small package. Lens is hardly bigger or heavier that your kit lens. Due to small size, this lens wont attract attention given its astonishing optical reach. - Simple change of adapter makes lens usable by virtually any camera brand so if you have Canon and Nikon and Sony SLR, this one lens, fits all! - Very nice Halo Bokeh and very shallow DOF. The Bad: - Image quality. But hay don't forget how much you paid or how much you should pay to get the quality lens of this range. I have many older mirror CAT type 500 to 1000mm range lenses and can say this Rokinon actually rocks among them. - No true F stop blade. This is typical for the type of engineering of this lens and not limited to this one. But then I was provided with free ND filters that do this job. That is in case you think you can get enough extra light that you may want to cut off. - Slow for low light. Again think of price you paid. - Manual and critical focusing is hard to achieve. Use your LiveView with highest available magnification. Adding a working focus confirmation chips might be a bonus. - No tripod mount (Too small lens so minor complain) - Very Shallow DOF. Yes this might be a plus too. - Small amount of CA specially when tele-extender is added. Not bad at all compare to other lenses in same category. - Could benefited from a focus confirmation chips on the adapter. You can add aftermarket yourself. Moral: Lens is best for a beginner user who wants to taste the reach of several thousand dollar lens at a fraction of price and experiment that super high focal length. Don't expect high image resolution & detail though must admit in its class this lens rocks. Be prepare to learn how to focus and deal with low light and high ISO. The main reason images not looking good with this lens is hand shack and improper focus. So if you use a tripod, pay attention and practice critical focusing, you would be able to bring out some nice images out of this baby.
