The 18-200 has the close-up capabilities as well as ample zoom. The Image Stability feature is fantastic. I was chasing to active dogs through a forest preserve taking pictures of them at rapid shutter speed while I was walking. Images were perfectly focused and crystal clear. Their fur showed every detail and when they romped through the sand, you could see the texture of the sand grains with depth and definition. This camera ROCKS!
