4 out of 5 stars   Powerful Suction, Not as User Friendly as Expected

Review submitted for Shark Upright Rotator Vacuum - NV501 (EUPNV501)
Pros: Great suction. Seems to be self-propelled and almost takes off on it's own when you switch it on! Powerful upright vacuum cleaner that definitely gives my Dyson a run for it's money.
Cons: Weight distribution is off and the Shark Rotator is top heavy. This means it is slightly difficult to push for a smaller, older and not so strong person like myself. It doesn't live up to the hype about reaching those hard to reach places and although it has great suction as an upright, when you do lift the canister off and use it as a canister it doesn't do quite as good a job.
Other Comments: I am pleased with the Shark Rotator and do think that in some ways it does give my Dyson a run for its money. In others though it is a bit lacking. I thought it would be nice to have a vacuum cleaner that functions as a canister AND and an upright, but given its limitations as a canister I think if I had to make the choice again I'd probably buy a dedicated canister vacuum cleaner for those hard to reach places.

4 out of 5 stars   Jaws for Carpet
March 09, 2014
Review submitted for Shark Upright Rotator Vacuum - NV501 (EUPNV501)
Pros: The first time I used this vacuum, I had it set to maximum suction. On a carpet that I had vacuumed once a week for over a year, it easily filled the bin. It also left the carpet looking as if nothing had ever stepped on it. Even with the suction reduced to minimum, it still picks up a good amount of dirt and leaves the carpet looking great. This is easily the most maneuverable upright I have used. The power cord is long enough that I can plug it into one outlet outside of the room I'm cleaning and still get the job done.
Cons: If the power cord is wrapped up before the bin is empty, be careful when re-attaching the bin. The wrapped power cord can encroach on the area where the bin should be, and you may pinch the power cord if you are not paying attention.
