4 out of 5 stars   Good device with carrier locked firmware

Pros: Unlocked
Cons: Carrier Firmware
Other Comments: This phone is great. However, it has one huge downside. The device I got came with Wind Mobile's firmware. This is a Canadian carrier who uses the AWS band. It shouldn't be a big deal, but it is: the device will not upgrade to a modern firmware. Apparently Wind never approved any upgrades for the device. All is not lost: you can root the device and put the stock firmware on it, but that means you have to unlock fastboot which may case warranty issues.

2 out of 5 stars   Not a very good phone

Pros: Android OS
Cons: Home button work poorly, Soft voice, Drop wifi
Other Comments: Not a very good phone. First the 4 buttons are not very responsive to touch. Actually these 4 buttons are the most important part because they are being used all the time. It would be much better if they are real buttons instead of touch icons. Second the voice is very soft, you won't hear the other side at street. Third the wifi keep dropping. When it goes to standby, wifi dropped; when you move to another room the phone won't automatically search and connect to a stronger signal. Instead it will try to keep the far away one which is out of range. Lastly it is very hard to configure when to use SIM to call, when to use 3G to call and when to use Wifi to call. I believe I know a bit of network but still feel it is so hard to use.

Pros: Great phone
Cons: A little slow on response, Small internal memory
Other Comments: [...]The phone tends to be unresponsive at times but not enough of a hindrance to put me off the phone. Overall a good phone at a good price even by today's technology standards with dual core and all that jazz.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

2 out of 5 stars   good with serious problems
By petern on June 23, 2011
Review submitted for HTC Google Nexus One Unlocked Phone (HTCNEXUS1)
Pros: Bluetooth, Fast, Wifi, Decent battery life, Android, Very bright camera led, 3g possible, 720x480 video, More features w mod, Dual touch screen, 5mp camera, Trackball, Speakerphone, Gps
Cons: Weak moderate wifi ant, Non hd video, Poor mic, Poor dual touchscreen, Many possible probs
Other Comments: i've had one for over a year. The main problem is the touch screen, the dual touch / multi touch is probamatic, so don't expect to play any good multitouch games on this thing; imagine a x-y axis in center of phone, the problem is when touching two points at once and moving across the same axis at different points, example, left moving down and right moving up, the phone will swap the up and down so left will end up moving up and right will move down (swapped vertically). The other problem i've seen with this phone is that once in a while, the touch screen acts as if the lower part (near buttons) is being pressed, so when you touch, the phone will read something between where you actually touched and the buttons. it's the phone's flaw, not user error. google it, you'll see. the phone is good for all mobile uses though (web browsing, web video playing, reading office docs, pdfs, excel, etc), i've even opted to leave laptop at home on road trips since i know this phone does most basic stuff. it can do gps, and i've used it a lot, however, the included nav app is google's nav, but that requires data connection throughout trip, however, with off network apps like copilot live 8 (which i use), i can use the phone as my gps nav without a data plan. the things i use this most for also include video and music player, good sized screen + quality for video playing. another great use for this phone is as a flash light (with the right apps), it's enough to really light up the area around you, i'd estimate it to be around 70lumen (not focused). however, the mic is really poor for recording, i suspect it's only good for phone calls, so don't expect great videos or audio recordings with this phone. but the video recordings are decent. finally, this phone can be rooted and loaded with a custom os, some of which can possible unlock the fm receiver (and possibly transmitter), wireless n capability, and few other things. for those who are interested, my family bought three of these things from google over a year ago, and two of them have already been sent back for warranty replacement, so, i would probably avoid this phone. this thing has tons of complaints online.
