4 out of 5 stars   What a wonderful little scanner!

Review submitted for Kodak P570 Personal Photo Scanner - 5x7 inch Photos with 2GB Memory Card (KDP570)
Pros: Quick Easy Small Size
Cons:
Other Comments: Ease of use and size are great. Sometimes the plug-ins on the back prevent photos from exiting scanner, which is not great. "On/Off" button doesn't always work and unit has to be unplugged. This little unit is quicker and easier to use than a large flat-bed scanner. After having scanned thousands of old paper photos on this unit, I'm a happy camper!

2 out of 5 stars   Too simple, No quality

Review submitted for Kodak P570 Personal Photo Scanner - 5x7 inch Photos with 2GB Memory Card (KDP570)
Pros: Simple, Functional
Cons: Not Very Mac Compatable, Too simple, Not High Quality
Other Comments: I was very excited to get this scanner; in theory it would save me a ton of time against having to use a flat bed scanner. I was using it to scan my mothers photos (thousands of photos), I was fine that any ones bigger than a 5x7 would have need to be scanned using a flat bed. However, now I do want one that will also scan larger than 5x7. I usually don't read the instructions, but I had to with this because it was simplified too much. The red light would not stop blinking (it blinks different patterns for a different problem as specified in the middle of the manual). Turns out you can't just scan into your mac (this may be different with PC), and to top it off you have to insert the memory card before you turn the scanner on. This was frustrating because I couldn't see how the pictures scanned (to determine if the scanner needed cleaning or re scanned due to lines). When I did begin scanning, the light was solid orange (you figure it'd be green; but alas the manual told me the different colors indicate the dpi number, and then it didn't explain to me why there are two dpi numbers and I don't even know what dpi stands for. Within the first 10 photos (a few scanned without the protective covering and a few with) The covers were permanently scratched and lines kept showing up on the photos. Regardless of how much I 'cleaned' the scanner (which was a hassle in and over itself) there were still lines, not to mention I could not use the protective covers. I'm returning this product. It may have been that mine had a default (why I rated it a 2 and not 1), but I would recommend a higher quality than Kodak.

Review submitted for Kodak P570 Personal Photo Scanner - 5x7 inch Photos with 2GB Memory Card (KDP570)
Pros: Scans quickly, Good image quality
Cons: Dust leaves streaks, Autocrops pictures
Other Comments: I've scanned 3,500 family photos! Scanner works very well and has good resolution. Dust will get caught in it & leave streaks on ur pics. Really easy to clean out, just not noticeable until pic is viewed on computer. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to save those irreplaceable memories! Upload to facebook & share them with family! Definitely satisfied with results. If it autorops a pic more than desired, cut a sheet of white paper just big enough to put the picture on and give it a white border on all 4 sides. The white border keeps the scanner from cropping the too dark areas.

Review submitted for Kodak P570 Personal Photo Scanner - 5x7 inch Photos with 2GB Memory Card (KDP570)
Pros: Quick set up, Easy to use
Cons: Sleeve got scratched
Other Comments: In the last week, I have scanned in just over 2000 photos, with about 4000 more to go. Digitizing my 30 plus years of family photos will make it easier to create a digital scrapbook to share with my kids. I really like how the scanner just puts the photos in a folder on my computer without having to take an additional step of saving them. I am using the scanner with it hooked up to my computer rather than with the included memory card. When the sleeve included with the scanner became scratched and pitted, I made a new one with black card stock, double stick tape and a piece of clear transparency plastic. My home made sleeve is working much better, and I am very happy with how fast the scanner works, and the quality of the scan.

Review submitted for Kodak P570 Personal Photo Scanner - 5x7 inch Photos with 2GB Memory Card (KDP570)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: If you don't want to pay someone $$$ to basically do what you can do then this is a good deal especially when you have 500+ photos. At 600dpi it was surprisingly detailed. Perhaps I was being too much of a perfectionist, I have a flatbed HP scanner that can scan 2400dpi+! The auto feeder is a plus so no image issues due to "wand" swipes. Being portable means I am able to bring this to my relatives home and do scans there! Now for the not so good, issue I have workarounds. *First you are not able to see a preview of what you scanned. I have the scanner hooked up to my PC (reads it like a USB storage) so I was able to see the photo scan before moving on. *Second the feeder has poor guide rails, wish it comes with a sliding tray, so if you insert the sheet a slight angle it will screw up the scan. I made a tray out of wood wich solved the probelm. *Lastly about every 4-6 photos you absolutly have to clean the scanner otherwise you will get a white like across the photo. It Attracts dust like a magnet. With all this I was able to scan about 50photos/hr! Time and Patients is a virtue!
