Review submitted for Olympus RS 30W - Remote control - infrared (OM147026)
Pros:
Cons: Incompatible
Other Comments: Even though I checked to be sure my recorder - Olympus DM-420 was on the list, this item doesn't work with it. Seems like a nice item though and maybe someday I'll but another recorder that is compatable. But double check before you buy it.

Review submitted for Olympus RS 30W - Remote control - infrared (OM147026)
Pros: Nice Button Configuration, Ergonomic Design
Cons:
Other Comments: Bought this to go with the LS-11. I play drums and wanted to be able to track songs by stopping and starting the recorder. Was concerned about distance, but that is NOT a problem. Depends on the other lights in the room that can ruin signal, but it pretty much acts like a tv remote would. Works at least 12' away if not further. Not necessary, but nice add on for musicians.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

Review submitted for Olympus RS 30W - Remote control - infrared (OM147026)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: The RS30W is a remote control for the Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder. I was not able to find any reviews for the RS30W online. Apparently, there aren't enough people who need a remote feature for the LS-10. I use the LS-10 to record drafts of songs and the RS30W to record friends/family playing together. If you're holding a guitar or other instrument, the LS-10 recorder can be engaged from most of 20 feet away with the RS30W. But, there are two very important considerations: 1) the LS-10 recorder must be placed in a neutral, omni-directional location - the voice or instrument closest to the LS-10 WILL dominate the playback; 2) LINE OF SIGHT - the RS30W receiver must 'see' the transmitter to engage the record feature of the LS-10. The RS30W has two components: a transmitter and a receiver. Both are easily misplaced or lost: they're small. The receiver plugs into the top of the LS-10 recorder. It has two 'lights': a red one and a clear one. The red light is the receiver's eye, the white one is an actual light (LED) that turns red when the RS30W receiver has received the signal and has engaged the LS-10 to record. When the red LED is lit, the LS-10 is recording. The red LED is easily seen from 30 feet away. The transmitter has two buttons: REC and STOP. When you depress the REC button, the clear light (LED) on the receiver turns red to indicate that the LS-10 is recording. The transmitter is somewhat unforgiving in that you MUST be on-axis and in-line with the receiver's eye. If you're five degrees either side of that axis, the receiver won't see the transmitter's signal when you depress the REC button. Again....LINE OF SIGHT is very important for the receiver to see the transmitter. That's been my experience anyway. Your mileage may vary. The Olympus LS-10 is a great little recorder made better by the convenience of remote recording provided by the RS30W. I really like this thing.
