4 out of 5 stars   Bright, but a bit noisy for a small room

Review submitted for Optoma TW631-3D WXGA, 3500 Lumen, 10000:1, 3D Multimedia Projector Factory Refurbished (OPTW6313D)
Pros: Very bright
Cons: Fan Runs Constantly, Minor Design Annoyances, Fan Louder Than Expected
Other Comments: I bought this to replace a failed EP1691 in my den. This unit is noticeably brighter than the 1691, which was fairly bright on its own. Whlie the projector does what it is supposed to do (project a bright 80" image from about 7 feet away), I do have a couple of pet peeves: 1) Takes a few seconds for the light/fan to turn on, but no auditory indication that it IS turning on. The EP1691 beeped when it started to turn on, which I really miss. 2) The EP1691 power light blinked on at a very slow state when off, steady on when on. This projector power light is on solid when off, and blinks at a faster rate when on. It is distracting. The power light is brighter than necessary, too, contributing to this peeve. 3) The fan is rated only a couple of decibels louder than the EP1691. Either I had an unusually quite EP1691 or this is a little louder than the rating indicates. 4) 1 of the mounting screw holes had damaged threads - probably specific to my particular unit and only important if you are ceiling mounting. 5) theere are 3 mounting screws, requiring one side of the projector to only get 1 mounting screw. The heavy side of the projector is that side. Seems like bad design. It is still a fine, bright projector. I can cover the light to eliminate its distracting blinking. If I can find a way to muffle the fan noise a bit, it will be perfect (except for not having any feedback that it is turning on).
