Review submitted for Pioneer SE-A1000 - Lightweight Audiophile Over-Ear Stereo Headphones (PRSEA1000)
Pros: Great Sound, Good Bass, Comfortable, Stylish, Good Value
Cons:
Other Comments: An absolutely excellent deal for a quality set of headphones. Supremely comfortable, with a cord that is extremely well built and plenty long. Give it some time for the bass to open up, once it does these headphones are really one of the best options at the $60 - $80 price point. Great mids and highs, with enough bass extension to let you feel the impact of the music. Used primarily for music (vinyl, SACD, DVD-A, CD) but it has seen some use in my theater for gaming. Music-wise it has seen a good variety from old school punk, modern garage rock, classical, blues, jazz, prog. rock, classic rock, and even a bit of hip-hop. Listening to Clapton's "Backless" on vinyl, I felt like I had Slowhand himself set up in my room. The same goes for Berlioz's "Symphonie fantastique" on SACD. I felt like was conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra with Charles Munch. For music it is hard to beat in this price range and nothing touches it for theater use. Great immersion when watching movies and playing games. Only niggle would be that they are a tad loose. The headband is not adjustable, so it is best for those with larger heads. They won't fall off, but they will sag on the ears if not positioned just right. They are truly meant for using while sitting down and focusing on what is coming through the headphones.
