5 out of 5 stars   Excellent choice for a midprice receiver

Review submitted for Pioneer VSX-920-K A/V Receiver (PRVSX920K)
Pros: Multiple Connections, Video upconversion, Multiple speaker options, B channel speakers, Visual sleek front, HDMI 14, Rear Height RL speakers
Cons: Complex manual, Needs 16" top ventilation
Other Comments: Home theater. I have the speakers set up for DVD viewing. I can use different 2.1,3.1,5.1,7.1, or add B stereo speakers. The receiver has multiple sound selections for sport, drama, ....many. The upconversion is a nice feature to view old VCR and home video tapes. The HDMI 1.4 is a nice feature for future options. The manual. I have some electronic experience and consider myself and intermediate user. The features the receiver has and the multiple variations (along with added footnotes) makes the initial reading of the manual and experimenting a time consuming project if you want to do it. Or you can just hook up a pair of stereo speakers and listen. Included is a sound calibration device for your chosen speakers.

Review submitted for Pioneer VSX-920-K A/V Receiver (PRVSX920K)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: I purchased this item to replace an older Onkyo A/V amplifier and was amazed that the speaker binding posts/terminals would not accept my double banana plugs that I was using for the 7 speakers connected to the Onkyo. If I plugged them in red/red or black/black, which would cause a short, it would work, but that would be nuts! I contacted Pioneer about this and was told that I should cut off off the banana plugs and connect the wires to the posts by hand. Why would I cut off 14 wires and go to all that work? Every time I need to move the amp, instead of unplugging the 7 banana plugs I would need to unwire and rewire. I have serious questions about Pioneer's design team because of this. I was also told by Pioneer that the Pro line was the same way.

Review submitted for Pioneer VSX-920-K A/V Receiver (PRVSX920K)
Pros: Good looking unit, Multiple HDMI inputs, Lots of bang for the buck, Auto detects speakers, Great sound, Measures surround distanc
Cons:
Other Comments: Plug and play HDMI multiple inputs, easy !! Also has all you need of the regular inputs for any non-HDMI components. I have a (barely used) vcr and also (barely used) cassette wired in, as well as my wii and cd player, all into rca inputs. I have the blu-ray and ATT u-verse on HDMI inputs with HDMI out to the TV. Then I use the reciever to run everything. I also ran u-verse and blu-ray direct to the TV for using them without the surround sound. I ran the Netflix thru the blu-ray and can watch that using the reciever with surroung sound or can just use the TV sound. The reciever has a lot of sound effect settings which are really cool but also can be somewhat complicated -- make sure to read the manual. At setup the unit comes with a microphone you set at your desired exact spot to automatically set the surround levels and delay for perfect response, and you can also tweak the levels and timing manually if you want to. I would buy it again !! Purchase from beachcamera [...]. Will buy from them again also.

Review submitted for Pioneer VSX-920-K A/V Receiver (PRVSX920K)
Pros: Great sleak look, Sound clarity was good
Cons: Terrible layout of remote, Only last 1 evening
Other Comments: Bought this at a very good price. Looked promising. Hooked up easily. Allthough the sound was crisp it seemed to lack power. The amp had to be turned up half way to get reasonable audio level. After one evening use, the receiever would turn on and shut-off after 5 seconds. Called Pioneer for warranty service, however they would NOT service the receiver because it was not purchased from a authorized retailer. Go figure! Sent it back for refund. Thanks BeachCamera
