3 out of 5 stars   Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Automatic Super Wide Angle Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras
By Sridhar on March 23, 2014
Review submitted for Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Automatic Super Wide Angle Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE14MAFN)
Pros: 1.wide angle.
Cons: 1.No Auto Focus. 2.No Weather seal
Other Comments: It is good for Landscape photography. Not so good for taking party's, functions, weddings ,though i used this for my home functions, i got soft photos. Not sharp as landscapes. If you are buying this one for fun,it is recommended. But be careful when you go to beaches, dust and sand may go inside the body.(it happened to my lens, i am still using the lens with sand inside) http://500px.com/photo/61541343 http://500px.com/photo/58102696

4 out of 5 stars   Good All Around

Review submitted for Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Automatic Super Wide Angle Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE14MAFN)
Pros: - quite cheap - decent performer
Cons: - manual focusing of course
Other Comments: For the Canon system, there isn't much of a choice now. With the Sigma and Tamron 14mm lenses discontinued, this is really the only option unless you want to spend the extra for the Canon L. And coming from the Canon 14mm L (original mark) and still owning the Sigma 14mm EX, this Rokinon/Samyang/Bowen isn't a bad choice actually. This baby is on par with the Sigma (and the Sigma being slightly better than the Canon Mark I) in terms of sharpness with the only other thing that I notice is the Rokinon having more severe vignetting and distortion (both somewhat fixable in post processing... make sure to download the right lens profile in Lightroom). And just a note. Instead of buying the Canon mount if you are invested in EF/EF-s mounts, get this Nikon version and buy a cheap adapter with AF confirmation online for mounting on Canon. Works great on both system then and you can still use the adapter for them sweet Nikkor film lenses.

Review submitted for Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Automatic Super Wide Angle Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE14MAFN)
Pros: cheap, very wide angle, smooth focus
Cons: Have heard of issues with dust getting in
Other Comments: Lots of image distortion due to being such a wide angle, but this can be fixed on the computer. This isn't really a con, just something to be aware of.

Pros: Compact Design, Professional Quality
Cons: Lacks Functionality, Only Works On M Mode
Other Comments: Very good cost benefit product compare to prime lenses on the market. Need to improve raw format for C aberration and distortion in pictures

Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: Simply the best UWA for the money and one of the best UWA's there is, period. Coma and CA are minimal to none. Manual focusing at this focal length is just not an issue. If you have never used manual lenses, the learning curve is short and not very steep. In portrait orientation, set to f/5.6 or f/8 and focus set to a bit less than infinity, everything from the grass to the sky will be sharp. There is some distortion but it can be mostly corrected in post. Useable for real estate selling, but probably not the best lens for architecture. In real world use, flat horizons could be a problem but in most situations the distortion is simply not a serious shortcoming. For wide field astrophotography it is exceptional. This lens replaces my previous UWA favorite, the Tokina 11-16 (not compatible with a FF Canon) and is optically superior to that lens but does NOT take filters. Seriously, if you have ever desired a ultra wide lens, just get one of these.
