1 out of 5 stars   Glare makes this TV unuseable
March 23, 2015
Review submitted for Samsung PN64H5000 - 64-Inch Full HD 1080p Plasma HDTV 600Hz Subfield Motion (SAMPN64H5000)
Pros: TV came in good shape, set up reasonably easy. Love the stand where you can turn the TV to different directions. That is ALL I love.
Cons: Well, I took the chance on reviews and bought a TV across country to be delivered from NJ to SDG. I have a Best Buy right by myself that listed this TV but read the fine print this was sold out of NJ Beach Camera. No returns were allowed at Best Buy so I just bought it direct at Beach Camera. I didnt make the decision lightly. Went into several stores reviewing the smart TVs, etc. Decided I didnt want a smart TV with all their issues of power issues, pixel issues, etc. I read the glowing reviews of this one so kept going back and took the plunge and bought it. WORST SCREEN EVER sold as you cannot see the picture at all so who cares how great the picture quality is eventually if 90% of the day you can't watch even a commercial without seeing the glare of everything in your house including yourself staring into the TV. I understand glare and am not a wus. This TV however is absolutely unuseable unless it is in a dark room. That simple. My daughter and I closed every window, not to mention the TV is in back of our house. Yes we have some windows open in other rooms and this TV caught all of them INCLUDING the ones we had shut - all that does is now you see the reflection of the windows with blinds shut. You see your face in the glass like a mirror - EVERYTHING is a mirror. Tried sitting down last night around 7:30p - total glare. It wasnt until 9:30p where things became more normal. Went upstairs to our other TVs to watch the beginning of the movie again without the glare and it was like seeing the movie for the first time. We both mentioned it. This TV ruined the viewing experience for the first hour before it was pitch black outside. UGH. We even had to turn off the lamps even when it did become night as you can see every lamp . Ridiculous WHAT a waste of my money. I hate this tv and it is being donated immediately. Unfortunately for me, my movers took the box when they left and now Im stuck with this. Im so frustrated as this is my first big TV and can't watch it.
Other Comments: HATE this TV. Will NEVER own a plasma. Im upset that none of the reviews stated this as being unuseable. All I read wrong with the TV is it was made too expensive and that was the issue why they are being discontinued. I cant see any avid TV watcher using this TV as we dont all have theater dark rooms. 7:00p should not be too early to sit and watch a flick on a Sunday early evening. Now we have to go upstairs in our bedrooms if we want to watch tv before 10p.

Pros: Excellent dark room picture quality, very reasonable price
Cons: Lack of anti-glare treatment creates reflections in sunlight
Other Comments: Pentile display is not a factor at normal viewing distance. Lack of 3D and internet connectivity is not an issue for me.
