5 out of 5 stars   Handy DC very suitable for snapshots

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 10.2 MP Digital Camera (Black) (SNDSCTX5B)
Pros: Super handy and slim, Great video quality, User friend touch screen, Large LCD, Stylish and cool
Cons: Barrel distortion, Battery use up fast
Other Comments: Very handy camera that I love to carry around instead of my DSLR. Quality of photos reasonable as a DC. Worry free to let my kid taking snapshots thanks to its antishock feature. Given its small sensor size, photo quality at ISO1600 is quite acceptable making it very usable at night even without flash. "Handheld twilight" is an amazing feature too. Video quality quite good except that autofocus may be a bit slow (same to many other DCs). Battery life a bit short but with its small size really can't complain. Don't understand why most comments prefer to Canon D10 and Panasonic TS2. I think price-performance-wise this DC is a sure winner.

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 10.2 MP Digital Camera (Black) (SNDSCTX5B)
Pros: Tiny pocket size, Zoom vid while recording, Fast shutter, Excellent video, Easy to change modes, No special software, Easy to use, Excellent Pictures
Cons: Can't think of anything
Other Comments: I love this camera. It is so easy to use and takes fantastic pictures and video. I didn't think I would like the touch screen but I do. You can change several options easily such as turn off the flash just by touching the flash icon and saying on/off. I haven't tried it under water yet, nor have I dropped it. It is very small and slides into your pocket. I have very small hands and this camera feels perfect to me. My husband has big hands and he said his hands got in the way of the pictures a couple of times but after he used it awhile he got used to that and loves it too. I was very surprised to get a camera that is this nice and durable for [$].

Pros: Tiny size, Waterproof enough said, Fast shooting, Burst mode incredible, Great Pictures, Good HD video
Cons: Hard to see in light
Other Comments: This camera is fantastic. I initially hedged on the price, but after being through 2 cameras in three years, I decided to invest in it. I love how fast it is ready to take photos. The underwater mode is great, and the panoramic is really convenient and fun. I would highly recommend this camera. The only drawback is the burst mode and video mode really drains the battery quick so consider investing in another battery as well.

4 out of 5 stars   Great Little Camera

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 10.2 MP Digital Camera (Black) (SNDSCTX5B)
Pros: Takes great-looking pix, Many useful features, Solidly Built, Intuitive
Cons: Touchy battery door, Short battery life, Zoom's a bit limited
Other Comments: I've been using my new Sony CyberShot for a few months now and I love it. Generally, the picture quality in Auto mode is excellent and the HD video picture and sound quality is amazing for such a small device. Sometimes a quick change of shooting modes or a small manual override makes a big difference in picture quality (especially in low-light conditions where pictures shot without flash were often markedly better than with flash) and the touch-screen makes those adjustments easy and intuitive to do. As I'm a ski instructor, I chose this particular camera for it's rugged shock, cold, and water-proof qualities and I'm really looking forward to taking it out on the slopes with me this winter to capture action shots and video clips. Eventually I'd like to buy a more feature-rich (bigger optical zoom, more manual overrides, ability to change lenses) camera but, for now, this new toy has been great fun to use and takes generally very nice photos and video.

Pros: Great Touchscreen System, Well Designed, Good colorful pics, Rugged waterproof, sweep panorama, Range of shooting options
Cons: Barrel distortion obvious
Other Comments: Bought this camera to take on holiday for general snaps to complement a larger camera that I don;t want to carry everywhere. I love the design and using the camera - it really is incredibly easy even for non-tech people to operate, and the pics look great. The backlight correction HDR, sweep panorama, handheld twilight and burst modes are incredible and make the camera very adaptable. The only issue I have, and it is a fairly major slight, is Barrel Distortion in the corners of the lens when at the wide angle. If you put people's faces in the corner of the screens (which is the best place for them usually) their faces are made to look much wider than they should be. Of course it's not really noticeable with landscapes , but if you have a person there it can be very unflattering and can ruin a few photos. On balance, I decided to keep the camera for it's ability to be taken anywhere due to it's size and toughness, but you do need to be very careful in your image compositions.

5 out of 5 stars   impressive camera

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 10.2 MP Digital Camera (Black) (SNDSCTX5B)
Pros: Wide angle lens, HD video, Waterproof, Good image quality, Small, Low light shooting
Cons:
Other Comments: This camera is the Swiss Army Knife of cameras. Its super compact, very pocketable. It does a lot of things very well. Impressive in low light. 24mm on the wide end. HD video in mp4 (720p). can adjust focus while filming. waterproof, drop proof, dust proof. On the downside, I would say the image quality is not great, although for a pocketable folded lens design camera, it is very good. if you want fantastic image quality, get a dslr. Still, all things considered it adds up to 5 stars for me.
