Verified Purchase Review submitted for Sony PRS-T1 6" Digital E-Ink Pearl eReader with Wi-Fi (Red) (SNPRST1RC) Pros: Good Compatibility, Compact Design, Good Screen Quality, Attractive Design, Easy To Read, Long Battery Life Cons: Other Comments: Sony PRS-T1 has the now standard Pearl eInk screen. Very nice in bright light, adequate is lesser lighting conditions. It reads standard ePub books with Adobe DRM. The wireless set up was easy as was getting registered with the Sony Reader store. The PRS-T1 software is ok, but it could be better. It does the job. It can read PDF books but I wouldn't use it with PDFs that have graphics, fine with simple text PDFs. The Sony Reader store is not great, but adequate. Barnes & Noble ePub books cannot be read on the PRS-T1 because they use a different Adobe DRM. Sony should be able to address this with a firmware update but I don't know if they will. Very happy with the new Sony reader. Verified Purchase Review submitted for Sony PRS-T1 6" Digital E-Ink Pearl eReader with Wi-Fi (Red) (SNPRST1RC) Pros: Attractive Design Cons: Poor Software Bundle Other Comments: I purchased this PRS-T1 so that I would be able to read various items while I recovered from shoulder surgery ( 6 to 8 weeks using only one arm). I was considering an iPAD; however, when I tried my granddaughter's a few weeks before the surgery it proved too awkward using only one hand. The Sony Reader appeared to be just the solution. It had a smaller case easily held in one hand with the touch screen and forward reverse buttons on the lower left margin of the frame. The reviews I read for the most part were positive, except for complaints about a firmware upgrade in order to rectify some touch screen issues. No big deal, Sony had the fix, just DL and install. However, the fix for me has been very frustrating. Although my Mac computer will connect to the Reader and do everything it's supposed to do to load the Reader with reading materials, the fix will not allow the Mac to upgrade the firmware. This Reader without the upgrade is totally useless when using only one hand: uncalled for screens, multiple screens, freezing of screens, unresponsive screens, continuous fast forward or reverse when one page forward was requested total machine freeze. Looking back to the Sony web site I see that they state that the Reader is compatible to both PC's and Mac's. Evidently not all Mac's. Was this review helpful?     |     Report this review
