5 out of 5 stars   Best walkaround sharp lens

Review submitted for Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 SP AF Macro XR Di LD-IF For Canon, With 6-Year USA Warranty (TM2875EOS)
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Consistent Output
Cons:
Other Comments: Tamron 28-75 is a brutally sharp lens even wide open. There are already too many reviews out there. IS feature might be better but I don't really need that since I can always set a safe shutter speed. Let me repeat again: This lens is so sharp.

3 out of 5 stars   Great glass, poor focus
By GoodFella on September 01, 2011

Review submitted for Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 SP AF Macro XR Di LD-IF For Canon, With 6-Year USA Warranty (TM2875EOS)
Pros: Strong Construction, Durable
Cons: Blurry Focus
Other Comments: This lens has an awesome glass, durable body. You will get almost same results as Canon's L series lens, if you're lucky to get a copy that focuses right. Mine had severe front focus issue. I ended up returning it. Tamron, you should charge $100 more and improve quality control on these. This is an awesome glass pacakged with inaccurate/unadjusted focus system.

4 out of 5 stars   Great Lens for the money
By Richard on June 23, 2010

Review submitted for Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 SP AF Macro XR Di LD-IF For Canon, With 6-Year USA Warranty (TM2875EOS)
Pros: Consistent Output, Lightweight, Easily Interchangeable, Nice Bokeh, Durable
Cons: Slightly Soft Focus, Poor in Low Light
Other Comments: Got the lens in the mail. Tried it out with pretty good results. The focus is moderately fast but sometimes the focus can be a bit soft. Gets sharper when stopping down the aperture a bit. External flash recommended in low lighting as the focus in low lighting isn't very sharp. For the money I can ignore most of the cons. Considered a Canon 24-70L, but it was out of my price range. I would pay a bit more if it had USM (USD for Tamron). For my needs (event photography), it's a great lens.

5 out of 5 stars   Almost as good as Canon "L"...
By jordanconard on June 09, 2010
Review submitted for Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 SP AF Macro XR Di LD-IF For Canon, With 6-Year USA Warranty (TM2875EOS)
Pros: Consistent Output, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons:
Other Comments: This is a great lens if you are looking to move up from the "kit" lenses that come with the Canon consumer and prosumer models. Essentially the Tamron is very close to the Canon L lens for about a third of the cost. My copy is clean and sharp and autofocus is good in most instances with the only issues being noted in really poor light.Overall I am very happy with this lens and would recommend it as a smart purchase.[...]

5 out of 5 stars   Very pleased with this lens

Review submitted for Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 SP AF Macro XR Di LD-IF For Canon, With 6-Year USA Warranty (TM2875EOS)
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Durable, Strong Construction, Rugged
Cons: Rear lens cap loose
Other Comments: I bought this lens because I wanted a lens faster than the kit lens of my Canon Rebel. I also own a couple of fast Canon lenses - a 50mm prime and a "70-200 2.8L IS". This Tamron is every bit as good as a "L" lens in terms of build quality, colors/contrast, speed of auto-focus and low-light performance. The best part is that it costs less than 1/3rd the price of the Canon 24-70 "L" lens. This lens also comes with a 6 year warranty, which is awesome when compared with Canon's standard 1 year. With this lens, I have shot little league basketball in a gym ; model portfolios in low ambient light as well as using strobes in studios ; products and food in a studio - all with great results. You would be hard pressed to find a better lens at this price point.
