4 out of 5 stars   Tamron 150-600 MM Lens

Review submitted for Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Canon (AFA011C700) (TMAFA011C700)
Pros: Sharpness is pretty impressive, especially for such a long zoom. Vignette is kept pretty low. Lateral chromatic aberration is kept reasonably under control. For the money its a good deal.
Cons: you'll get the very best results shooting at F8-F11, but that probably won't be very practical for such a long lens. heavy lens not something you want to carry around all day.

5 out of 5 stars   Tamron 150-600 Lens

Review submitted for Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Nikon (AFA011N700) (TMAFA011N700)
Pros: It is pretty sharp all the way to 600mm. The vibration compensation is better than any Nikon lens I own. I took a shot at 600mm, 1/125 sec hand held of a moving aircraft and it was perfectly sharp. Build quality is pretty good for the price. The photo keeper rate was about 90% at an air show compared to about 70% that I would get with my Nikon 28-300VR or Nikon 80-200 f/2.8.
Cons: It is a very large and heavy lens, takes some getting used to. You will probably need a new larger bag if you plan to carry this lens with other lens. It did not fit in my Tamrac Pro-5 bag and barely fit my Canon backpack. Problem solved with a new Tamrac Pro-12 bag.
Other Comments: For the money there is no other lens that comes close in this zoom range. The only alternative is to get the Sigma Contemporary which is maybe equal but I would trust Tamron image quality over it. The Sigma Sport 150-600 would be a step up but at twice the cost. A Nikon prime 600mm is 10 times the cost. I bought this lens solely for air shows and out of all the glass I have used in the past, Nikon and Tokina this does a much better job. My Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 is sharper but the Tamrom makes up for it in range and vibration compensation so in the end I come home with a lot more usable photos.

Pros: Great zoom range. Lots of lens for the price. Takes clear pictures all the way out to 600mm.

Review submitted for Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Nikon (AFA011N700) (TMAFA011N700)
Pros: Long reach for Nature and Birding. Quite manageable and possible hand held (build your muscle). Best up to 400mm, acceptable IQ at 600mm. If you need 600mm, get it without breaking the bank. Image stabilization really works. Fast focus without hesitation. Sharp even at fully open aperture. 1/10 of the price of similar brand name lens.
Cons: Plastic lens construction, so handle carefully. 95mm filter size. Not so fast lens, not F/4. No pouch or case included. Back ordered almost everywhere, even a year after the initial release.
Other Comments: Great with daylight exposure. Image quality at 600 is not as good as $9K brand name lens. Extending zoom lens barrel. Perfectly smooth manual focus Works perfectly with Nokon autofocus and autoexposure.

4 out of 5 stars   Tamron vs Canon 100-400
December 19, 2014
Review submitted for Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Canon (AFA011C700) (TMAFA011C700)
Pros: Inexpensive for what you get. Lens tests seem to be accurate--I ran some tests at f6..3,8 and 16 vs the Canon 100-400 and sharpness seemed equal except at 300..--Canon was slightly better.
Cons: TBA--will go on a shoot for eagles next week--stay tuned. Friend had one and it never produced sharp images...quality control? 4 stars on limited testing
Other Comments: More info to come. Tests were conducted at 50yds using a For Sale sign with multiple sized letters. Then images were examine at 100% magnification looks good so far.
