Other Comments: I have an older Tom Tom XL340S which has worked very well. So I ordered the TTXXl550M which is unsatisfactory. After initially charging it for seven or eight hours it would not hold a charge. It would only operate when plugged into the car cigarette lighter. It often missed giving instructions. It sometimes gave directions after crossing an intersection, and sometimes we had to wait for instructions. Sometimes there were no instructions at all.

Other Comments: Never had a TomTom before - so glad I got this one. It is so easy to use and has all the features I require. My last vehicle had a navigation system installed and was complicated to use. By comparison, this TomTom is awesome. I particularly like the lane indicators, automatic day/nighttime screen change, route preference, and traffic light indicator. I also like the mph indicator changing to red if traveling over the speed limit - very clever!

Other Comments: I bought this for myself based on my experience with a TomTom ONE XL-S which is now in a friend's car. I was using a Pioneer that was becoming unreliable. :-) It is nice to see the XXL 550 automatically change between day and night (the ONE XL did not). The XXL 550 also has a little extra storage where the ONE XL-S did not have enough storage to support all features. Sadly, a few features have been lost, too: 1. The ONE XL would automatically shut itself off when the charger power dropped, but the XXL 550 lacks that feature. 2. TomTom HOME with the ONE XL gave me a terminal in the ONE XL Linux system; I do not see that option for the XXL 550. All in all, this is a very good navigation computer with some useful improvements over older models.
