Other Comments: I don't think there's a perfect NAS on the planet at present but this WD-NAS shows that affordable security with realistic capacity for the home and small business environment has arrived. The ability for it to manage its own RAID configuration, the automatic re-build on drive failure and the e-mail notification of faults, re-boots and other significant events are amongst the better features. The ease with which you can spot failure, replace and rebuild the array without data loss provides good sleep. As you'll gather I have had an early drive failure, but that's statistics for you- MTBF figures are just for manufacturers to boast about! [...]Good warranty behaviour is very important.

Pros: Easy To Manage, Fast, Easy To Set Up
Cons: Onoff switch fails, UPS function doesn't work
Other Comments: Set up in a small business network. Easy to set up although it took half a day to re-sync the drives when first plugged in. Network transfers and response times are fast. Do not use any of the WD software. Is specified to shut down in orderly fashion when connected to specified UPS devices. Function does not work on any units according to the WD forums. Have to shut down the unit using the WEB interface as power button doesn't work. Cannot start the unit with power button or by restoring power unless the power brick is completely discharged first.
