5 out of 5 stars   THE ABSOLUTE BEST 13.3" WINDOWS ULTRABOOK
By BIGMIKEY on August 26, 2014
Review submitted for Asus Zenbook Infinity 13.3" Touch UX301LA-XH72T Ultrabook - Intel Core i7-4558U Proc. (ASUX301LAXH72T)
Pros: IMHO: 1) 2 X 250 = 500 GB RAID (0) SSD. 2) 2560 X 1440 DISPLAY 3) 4558U i7 & 5100 GRAPHICS 4) GREAT KEYBOARD 5) NEARLY GREAT TRACKPAD 6) (REAL) THIN AND (REAL) LIGHT 7) BEAUTIFUL 8) BOOTS UP IN 5 SEC
Cons: IMHO: SLIGHTLY BALKY TRACKPAD. HAVE TO TAP (PRESS) PRETTY HARD FOR LEFT BUTTON PRESS (SOMETIMES). THE SCREEN DIMS A LITTLE AND THEN IN A FEW SECONDS BRIGHTENS BACK UP AGAIN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. A LITTLE IRRATATING.
Other Comments: THE DISPLAY IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. NO BAD PIXELS. I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THIS MACHINE OR ANY OTHER IF IT WASN'T FOR THE 500GB SSD. I HAD TO ENLIST THE HELP OF MR. NORTON AND WINZIP MALWARE PROTECTOR TO CONTROL THE ADWARE AND MALWARE THAT SOMEHOW CREPT INTO THE MACHINE. I'D BUY THIS MACHINE AGAIN IN A SECOND.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

5 out of 5 stars   Really, it doesn''t get much better than this!

Review submitted for Asus Zenbook Infinity 13.3" Touch UX301LA-XH72T Ultrabook - Intel Core i7-4558U Proc. (ASUX301LAXH72T)
Pros: Bottom line - This Laptop is excellent and, as of today, it doesn't get much better than this. Pros - - Takes only about 4 seconds at most to boot-up, and that's after I loaded up all of my programs. - Handles apps/programs extremely well and fast, including my Dragon Medical voice recognition software. The latter was especially important for me, as no laptop I've used has been able to run the full version of Dragon Medical without issue. This laptop, though, runs the software flawlessly and quickly (the algorithms process immediately and through the sentences onto the screen without any delay. Faster, in fact, than my HP desktop hex-core with 16mb RAM). - Came with 8.1 Pro already installed, even though the order said it would come with 8.0 Pro alongside a free upgrade. On that issue, then, Asus under-promised and over-delivered. - The display is pretty incredible.
Cons: Cons - - Only 1: The touchpad (built-in mouse) is a) centered; b) too large, That combination causes the cursor to jump to a random location, when I unavoidably rest the ball of my hand on the computer when typing. If the pad were off-center and to the left, and it were smaller, that would not be an issue. - OK, maybe another, but much less important to me than the above issue. Bang & Olufsen should be ashamed of themselves. The sound on this machine? Meeh!
Other Comments: Additional info - RAID 0: For whatever reason (I've heard that it has to do more with how Windows 8.1 handles RAID 0, on this computer anyway), my two 256 SD drives (512 total) came configured with RAID 0 the following way: - Drive C: labeled "OS" is 190 gb; - Drive D: labeled "Data" is 265 gb. - Three additional (hidden) partitions for Health & Recovery total 21 gb. So, this is not a traditional RAID 0 striping method. No issue for me, as a traditional RAID 0 would have given me a single active drive of 256 gb of effective space, and instead two active drives totaling 455 gb of effective space. Tech Support: I found tech support to be excellent. I realize that other reviewers had a different experience than me. - First, locating the number to tech support was easy. - Second, they answered the phone late at night. - Third, the person who answered the phone was surprisingly knowledgeable, without having to transfer me to someone else. - Fourth, after my questions were answered, upon learning that this was my first Windows 8 experience (coming from Windows 7 Ultimate), the tech support individual volunteered to show me some quick tips and tricks to minimize frustration and improve my learning curve. Keyboard - I type about 150 WPM. No issue on this machine. Nothing weird about the keys or the configuration. One previous reviewer said something about the "Delete key" being odd. Not so on the computer that I was sent. The delete key is just like any other key on that top row. All good, all normal. Wireless - Connects instantly - even when coming out of sleep mode. Gaming - Not my area of expertise, as I'm not a serious computer
