3 out of 5 stars   good cam..disappointing dettection range
By possumhead geezer on December 11, 2013
Review submitted for Browning Recon Force Trail Camera (BWNBTC2)
Pros: Quality Constructiion, Easy Set Up, good photos
Cons: Min Detection Zone
Other Comments: This is a good camera that takes good photos, and is basically...as advertised.....but notice that detection range is NOT the same as "flash range". the detection range for the BTC-2,(according to an email from Browning) is 30 feet !!! ..and I have never seen this represented in ads for this camera.,......or I would have never bought it. Of the 8 trail cams I use in a similar price range, the BTC-2 detection range is the LEAST sensitive. Walk thru tests at 40 feet tripped the camera about 50% of the time. The "flash range" IS 60+ feet and provides good illumination when a wide body gets close enough to trip a photo. There were no photos of small animals eg. skunk, raccoon, opossum, fox, birds that are known to frequent the area. The quick trigger will take some photos at the edge of the photo frame resulting in some 1/2 animals, or even empty frames. Again, I don't mean to take away from the positive aspects represented in ads for this camera,....I just think the buyer needs more info about the detection zone to avoid disappointment upon purchase.

3 out of 5 stars   Browning Recon Force is battery eater.

Review submitted for Browning Recon Force Trail Camera (BWNBTC2)
Pros: Nice Pictures And Day Vid
Cons:
Other Comments: I use Bushnell Trail Camera's but decided to give this one a try for the price. Takes nice pictures and day video's. But it is hard on batteries. It's so hard on them that night video's are limited to 10 seconds!. I do not like this at all. My Bushnell are set for 1 Minute for night or day and they don't eat batteries!. Trigger time is ok but not as fast as Bushnell. I do like how the pictures are not blurry when game is in motion though. All in all, I will stick to my Bushnell for now. They need to fix how this thing eats batteries, then you probably wouldn't be limited to such short night video's. I put Duracell coppertop batteries in mine. took probably 700-800 pictures and 3 video's and the batteries are at 25%. These batteries in my Bushnell's last me the whole archery season and then some.
