5 out of 5 stars   EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Wide Angle Zoom Lens
By Waddizzle on July 22, 2015
Review submitted for Canon EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (CN1022USM)
Pros: This lens was designed specifically for cameras with APS-C image sensors. The maximum f/stop ranges from f/22 at 10mm, and f/29 at 22mm. Images have been very sharp. Colors are rich. Good in low light. Uses a 77mm filter size. Has USM, ultra-sonic motor, and focuses extremely fast and super quiet. Lens does not change length when zooming or focusing, so lens creep is a moot point. This might actually be a bonus feature. The lens has a noticeable, but pleasant, fish-eye effect when the zoom is set for 10mm. The fish-eye effect becomes less and less noticeable, to me at least, as you zoom out to 22mm, where it seems to be completely gone.
Cons: The lens has a noticeable fish-eye effect when the zoom is set for 10mm. The fish-eye effect becomes less and less noticeable as you zoom out to 22mm, where it seems to be completely gone.
Other Comments: Well worth the price of admission. This lens is big glass, so some might find it a bit on the heavy side, but not me. The "Digital Photo Professional" software package that comes with most Canon DSLRs can remove the fish-eye distortion from images saved in the RAW format by using lens data downloaded from Canon.

5 out of 5 stars   Great ultra wide lens
By straightline on February 02, 2014
Review submitted for Canon EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (CN1022USM)
Pros: light weight crisp picture throughout the zoom range minimal, if any, vignetting
Cons: not image stabilized, but not really needed
Other Comments: Delighted I chose this lens vice Tokina 11-16 2.8. If you don't absolutely have to have the low light capability than the Canon 10-22 is a better choice. Roughly half the weight and larger zoom range.

Review submitted for Canon EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (CN1022USM)
Pros: Really Wide On 16x Senso, Rugged, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh
Cons: None yet
Other Comments: Gives the same angle of view on my 7D that the EF 17-35 gives on a 5D. It is not an L lens, but darn good.

5 out of 5 stars   Great lens

Review submitted for Canon EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (CN1022USM)
Pros: Consistent Output, Lightweight, Easily Interchangeable, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons: Poor in Low Light
Other Comments: Takes beautiful photos, sharp, clear, crisp at the edges. Nice build quality, and not overly heavy. Not the fastest lens. As a wide-angle zoom, it goes very wide. Its coverage is well suited to the 24-70mm or 24-105mm zooms. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars   My favorite lens so far!
By Dave on July 14, 2010

Review submitted for Canon EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (CN1022USM)
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons: Heavy, Bulky
Other Comments: This is currently my most used lens. I use it mostly for taking video on my T1i. Because of the ultra wide angle I can get everything even in small rooms.I have a 1 yr old and he doesn't stop running around so I can just stick this on a tripod and let it run without having to follow him around the room. I used it at many parties and family reunions as well as picnics. Because of the ultra wide angle IS is not as important. There is definitely distortion around the 10mm range but that is to be expected. It is true what they say that you need to watch out for your shadow and feet. This happened mainly when I was taking nature/scenic photos and photos when sitting down respectively. The only real con which isn't a con at all, is the fact that you can't use the pop-up flash with this lens because you get a very noticeable shadow on the bottom of your picture. I also have used it with 270ex speedlite and the same thing occurs. If anything this flash makes it more prominent. I do not own any of the larger flashes so I can't comment on them. Also be aware that because of the large size of the lens it's hard to fit into a lot of the smaller cases. Sorry I can't be more specific about which cases but I was trying it in a lot of cases at the store. These are all little nit-picky things. Even with all those issues I still give this lens 5 stars.

Review submitted for Canon EF-S 10-22mm F/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (CN1022USM)
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Cons:
Other Comments: Great for panoramic WIDE shots. Pricier than Tamron or Sigma (both of whom make some very nice lenses), but reviews said the difference was worth the $$. The photos are wonderful so I'll have to believe the reviews I read before purchasing.
