It replaced a 35mm 1.4L which was a superb lens, but I just didn't like the FL. If this FL is what you want, and you are a Canon FF shooter, this is your baby. Sure, one has be more careful with focusing technique, but the results are infinitely worth it. Enthusiastically recommended!
