Other Comments: i chose the 780is vs the 1400is due to the reviews. basically the 1400is is an upgrade in megapixels but mostly the same picture quality as the 780is, plus the 780is has a viewfinder, which is rare and helpful when its too bright outside. Plus its red -- the other models don't have this color! Two things that get me are that pics are sometimes blurry when taking a macro shot and the zoom trigger on top is kinda flimsy which scares me from time to time. Other than that, its definitely a great camera to have.

Other Comments: The camera comes on quickly and is ready to shoot. Has a switch to select photo's or video so you can leave it in video mode ready for that snap-shot video clip (in HD). HDMI out means it can be hooked directly to HDTV for picture and sound (the future of photography is pictures in 16 X 9 format just like HDTV). I have Canon 890 IS and this clearly eclipses that. Few cameras have optical viewfinders so this is perfect outdoor camera.

Other Comments: I like this camera and also the color (red) but as soon as I turned on, I have been seeing error with the lens "Lens error, restart camera" or something like that. I think there is a problem with it. At first, it was okay but now that I have been seeing everytime I turn the camera on, I have no choice but to ask for replacement. I bought this as refurbished item but I am not expecting to see this error everytime I turn on the camera. On a good note - I was able to take few pictures to see how the camera is and I was really impressed. I like that it is very handy and I can use it everytime. The battery lasts longer than I expected.

Other Comments: This camera is a great bargain, especially at refurb price. The HD video is good, build is solid and very compact (controls too tiny for my older parents, though!), and Canon's processor does a great job in odd, backlit, or high-contrast lighting situations. Focus is fast, too. It has the usual point-and-shoot somewhat mediocre performance in low light (sorry, I'm a picky SLR user), but I expected that. Zoom is limited, but if you're happy with 3X, this is a very nice camera for the cost.
