I was in the market for a new Camcorder to capture all those special and not so special moments (can you say future blackmail?) of my newborn daughter. After much research, visiting stores, and reading reviews I finally pulled the trigger on the HFS100. This unit has all the features I was looking for and then some, and each of the features in this Camcorder are top notch. There are two items that were a bit of a let down with this camera. While this unit seems to perform better than most in low light situations, it still has a considerable amount of noise to the picture. The second is the AVCHD file type. Unfortunately, if you own an Apple Mac, you cannot work directly with it and must convert it to AIC. This inflates your 7GB movie to well over 30GB on the computer and is time consuming. It does work fine with iMovie '09 and Final Cut Express 4 and I have not had any compatibility problems. Yes, I recommend this product Was this review helpful?     |     Report this review

Camera is very small and even though image stabilization is good, using a unipod or tripod will give superior results to handheld shooting. Picture quaility is excellent, audio is fairly good.
