3 out of 5 stars   Cobra bites back

Review submitted for Cobra MicroTalk CXT 125 16-Mile Radio (COBCXT125)
Pros: Easy To Use, Rugged, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Reception, Short Range
Other Comments: I was excited to see the presented distance for the signal. But, when recently tried in a [@] dept. store I was inside and the wife was outside in the nursery department...distance of less than a 100yds.She, couldn't hear me until I walked towards her direction and location? The units are good size and easy to use, the twin leads from the adapter resolves the guessing game of which got charged more...But, overall volume was rather low.

5 out of 5 stars   Perfect for family use

Review submitted for Cobra MicroTalk CXT 125 16-Mile Radio (COBCXT125)
Pros: Durable, Easy to use, Many channels to use, Lightweight
Cons: Not 16 mile radius
Other Comments: We have two sets of these because as a family of four we can all talk to each other. my children take one each time they go outside to play, and this allows all of us to stay in contact. They are durable and have held up against my rough little boys. They are great on family camping trips and park outings. I have not been able to use them with anything near a 16 mile radius, even in very flat terrain, however they do suit our needs of smaller distances. I just purchased two more sets for my nephews. Kids love walkie talkies, but they can also be used for family security/communication as well.

Review submitted for Cobra MicroTalk CXT 125 16-Mile Radio (COBCXT125)
Pros: cheap, Compact, Easy to use
Cons: Limited operational range
Other Comments: It is a good two-way radio for a small office. The manual states that the operational range is about 18 miles on open field or 1 mile in the city. In my case, it was at most 1/3 mile, in the city.

3 out of 5 stars   In expensive radio with limited range

Review submitted for Cobra MicroTalk CXT 125 16-Mile Radio (COBCXT125)
Pros: Easy to use, Rechargable batteries, Clear reception
Cons: License Required for GMRS, Limited Range
Other Comments: I bought the radios to communicate on the beach when I walk from our base camp. Technically you need an FCC license to use the GMRS modes, as such I have not tried these channels as of yet. In FRS mode, the range was very limited, and reception cut out after 1.5 to 2 miles. They may work better with a direct line of sight, but since I was on a jagged coast, I did not have the luxury. I did not have any problem with the rechargeable batteries and everything else seems to be fine. If you need the radios for a relatively short distance then these are an excellent choice. If you need a longer range, these radios in the FRS mode will disappoint you.

3 out of 5 stars   Low cost radio's.

Review submitted for Cobra MicroTalk CXT 125 16-Mile Radio (COBCXT125)
Pros: Rechargable batteries, Decent range, Compact Size
Cons: Bad battery indicator, Bad charging jack
Other Comments: Purchased these radios so our research teams could keep in contact. First thing I noticed was the charging jacks were suspect, you had to jiggle the connectors in the jacks to get confirmation of charging. After letting the batteries charge over night the battery indicator was still showing low batteries. Luckily I had a battery charger for AAA battries so I charged them to full capacity. After reinserting them in the radio's I was still getting a low battery reading. We just make sure the batteries are fully charged before each use and ignore the battery indicator.
