Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: Looked nice coming out of box. High expectations for Cuisinart product.
Cons: Our unit had the same defects identified by other reviewers. Grounds and water went everywhere when we made the first cup.
Other Comments: BuyDig was very helpful with the return and prompt refund.

2 out of 5 stars   OK but not great

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: Sturdy metal body and simple to use
Cons: Drip tray does not fit the Base well. Water tank arrived with broken tip. It cost me $30 to buy new one from Cuisinart and 2 weeks to arrive.
Other Comments: It's OK machine but I won't buy it again if I knew how it is. I'll keep it since it's here

2 out of 5 stars   Poor Quality Control (Refurbished)
By Jeffrey B. on March 07, 2017

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: Nice Stainless Steel construction. Cup heating rack on top. Easy to use.
Cons: Poor quality control on refurbished units. I guess they don't test them out after refurbishing these units. The first unit I purchased the unit only heated to 145° far below the 195° to 205° acceptable range. I returned the unit and ordered another one. The new unit filter holder did not seal properly and allowed water to escape pass the rubber seal. I guess they don't/can't test each unit by running water through them after refurbishing them which might be understandable. Another negative issue is the water container is in the back of unit and not very big. In order to refill the water reservoir you have to pull the unit away from the wall to remove and refill. I found filling the coffee filter very messy unlike using my french press or regular coffee maker. I had coffee all over the counter trying to fill the small coffee filter. There's got to be a better way. This unit is loud as others have stated.
Other Comments: The coffee making process on this older model is a little bit manual. Once you turn the unit on and start the process you must stand around waiting to manually turn the unit back off otherwise the water will continue to pour until the water reservoir is empty. I'm sure newer models you push a button and once your cup is full it turns off automatically. Maybe/Maybe not. Nevertheless, I would have liked to own this machine but after 2 units failed I'll have to look to another machine.

3 out of 5 stars   Temperature only 145°

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: Simple and easy machine to use. Nice stainless steel construction. Nice froth after brewing.
Cons: Temperature only reached 145° far below the appropriate temperature range (195 to 205) for brewing. Had to microwave every cup before drinking. Probably a defective unit. I returned this unit.
Other Comments: I normally use a French press and grind my own beans trying to get that extra flavor from the beans. Give this unit a try and see if you have better luck.

5 out of 5 stars   It got off to a rocky start but I am enamored with this machine.

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: When the machine arrived, I discovered a small leak in the plastic water reservoir but after calling the factory, a new part was shipped to me. In the meantime, I patched the leak with some epoxy and brewed my first cup of espresso. I was impressed with the quality of the machine and the froth (or crema) on top. I truly makes an excellent cup of coffee.
Cons: Defective part
Other Comments: Nice!

4 out of 5 stars   So Far, So Good
By Dave on January 12, 2015

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: Heats up fast, easy to use, easy to clean. Cup warmer adds a nice touch if it's on long enough to use it.
Cons: Noisy, not extreme, just louder than one would expect from a espresso maker.
Other Comments: It gets used daily and so far I have had no issues, everything works and it does what it says. Haven't tried two cups at the same time but the streams don't look even. Just an observation, no confirmation.

1 out of 5 stars   Last Quisinart Product I will buy

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 15-Bar Stainless Steel Espresso Maker (Factory Refurbished) (CUIEM100FR)
Pros: Pretty
Cons: Poor quality control, DOA, Poor Mfr Support, Unacceptable Warranty
Other Comments: I want to stress that the transaction with BuyDig went perfectly. Cuisinart did not properly refurbish this item. It appeared cosmetically perfect, however as soon as the machine was powered up, the pump ran (with the control dial set to off). Water flowed out the tray in the bottom of the machine and filled up the drip tray. There is no way this item received any testing with such a blaring malfunction. All companies have mistakes, and items occasionally slip through quality controls. A good company would stand up for a product bearing its name. Cuisinart expects either the customer or the vendor to pay shipping BOTH WAYS for a DOA item. When you call their support, they say, "that is listed in our warranty information". I now know of their warranty and will never purchase from them again. Who would buy a product from them with that knowledge? They suggested that I send the Espresso maker back to the vendor, however BuyDig did not make the mistake, Cuisinart did; and I'm still out shipping charges. I posted on their Facebook page, and they agreed to pay shipping for repair one direction after checking my serial number and receipt. When I told them that was still not right, they offered a refund if I sent it back to them. I'm going to be out the $18 in shipping costs and still not have an espresso machine. DO NOT purchase Cuisinart products. The cheap hair dryer company Conair purchased Cuisinart; that is probably when the abysmal warranty was introduced. I would suggest that BuyDig consider dropping Cuisinart; not all customers will understand that Cuisinart is entirely at fault.

4 out of 5 stars   I like it
By Spikes on March 01, 2013

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 Espresso Maker (CUIEM100)
Pros: Great Taste, Easy To Clean, Large Water Container, Easy To Use, Quick Brewing
Cons:
Other Comments: It makes a good cup of espresso or cappuccino and is simple to operate and easy to clean. It does take a bit of practice to get the coffee the way you like it. Overall, I like the machine. The steam wand did clog up on me twice but gently sticking toothpick in immediately opened it up. I don't find the noise that other reviewers mentioned to be an issue. I think the sound level is very acceptable. Water does accumulate in the water tray and I don't know if that is normal. I just spill it out when I am done with the machine.

4 out of 5 stars   nice product that needed packed better

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 Espresso Maker (CUIEM100)
Pros: Easy To Use, Great Taste, Made Good Tasting Coffee, Quick Brewing, Large Water Container
Cons:
Other Comments: water resevoir was cracked when it arrived. I tried it out even though it leaked water. I wanted to make sure that I liked the product since I was going to the trouble of returning it to get another unbroken one. It made very good coffee other than leaking from being cracked. The frother worked perfectly, so I cleaned it up, returned it and hoped to get one that was not damaged. It came damaged again. Buydig was helpful but whoever packaged the product for shipping did not put the product box in a large enough second box with bubble wrap or something around it so it would not get damaged during shipping. It really was too bad since I believe it was a good espresso maker.

3 out of 5 stars   Unfortunately returned item
By Vi on June 15, 2012

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 Espresso Maker (CUIEM100)
Pros: Quick Brewing, Looks very nice, Large Water Container, Easy To Use, Heavy weight felt solid, Easy To Clean
Cons: Brew quality, Frother was wobbly
Other Comments: It looked and felt like quality, but I couldn't get a brew any better than the cheaper (big box store) model/brand that I have. Also, the frother tube felt very wobbly... not very secure. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not, but I was worried it might fall out. Maybe it was just that one?? Of course, I think for the price you aren't going to get everything perfectly the way you want. I do have to mention the fact that I did end up returning it... and I was amazed at the great costomer service I received... filled out the form, followed all the directions, returned everything and received my payment back... no hassle.

4 out of 5 stars   Great Coffee, A bit loud and shaky.

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 Espresso Maker (CUIEM100)
Pros: Easy To Clean, Great Taste, Large Water Container, Quick Brewing
Cons: Noisy
Other Comments: Makes great espresso and lattes, easy to clean, very stylish looking. The one problem I have is that it vibrates containers off brewing platform and is a little noisier than other espresso makers I have had. My solution to the containers making their way off the platform is to use a small rubber mat under them and they stay put.

4 out of 5 stars   As Good As Starbucks for Pennies a Day
By Ex-Barrista, well-researched on May 29, 2010

Review submitted for Cuisinart EM-100 Espresso Maker (CUIEM100)
Pros: Easy To Clean, Quick Brewing, Easy To Use, Large Water Container, Great Espresso, Great Taste, Commercial Grade
Cons: Messy, Noisy, Average steamed milk
Other Comments: Recommended to me by personnel at Peet's Coffee. It has the same pressure as a professional espresso machine, so the espresso is very good, but the frothing system is about as good as Starbucks. If you are satisfied by Starbucks quality, you will be very content with this machine. It is fast and easy to use. Great bargain at BuyDig.com!
