Review submitted for Cuisinart Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor (Black) (CUIFP14BK)
Pros: Powerful Motor, Easy To Use, Handles Tough Jobs, Quiet, Dishwasher Safe, Three bowls
Cons: None for me
Other Comments: I was looking for a replacement for my 20-year-old Cuisinart food processor (FP, for short), which was getting too difficult to unlock the lid; I wanted a large-capacity FP to make bread in. After reading all the reviews on this processor, I was almost dissuaded from getting it. People made it sound so overly complicated and hard to clean and use. I finally decided to get it but use only the big bowl by itself, unless I really needed the smaller bowls for something. I'm so glad I did, because I LOVE this machine. I love that the lid snaps on instead of having to be slid into position. I love how powerful it is, and quiet. It's built like a tank and doesn't budge when kneading my (heavy, whole-grain) bread dough. It feels solid and strong – not cheap in any way. In fact, I thought it would bother me that the kneading "blade" was plastic instead of metal, but it is very strong and solid feeling and is all one smooth piece. I don't have to worry about trying to clean sticky dough off of a sharp metal blade, like with my old FP. The containers are strong-feeling but lightweight. I have had no problem with liquids spilling out or flour dust spraying out (just make sure the lid is snapped on securely). The only part that is a little complicated to clean is the lid, with its built-in seal, but I just wait until my dough residue is dry and then brush off the flakes and wash as normal. Very easy. There's even a special brush included for cleaning the lid, if needed. Otherwise, I plop everything in soapy water or in the dishwasher. Some people have talked about the bowls being hard to clean because of the insides not being smooth, which I was afraid would really bother me. But I don't see a problem with them. In fact, the only bowl that has anything protruding into the bowl is the small one, and it has only 4 little tabs around the top inside, which I can easily live with. The only other hard-to-clean area I can think of is outside the top rim of the large bowl, which has some grooves, like the top of a jar. But I always keep a toothbrush handy when I wash dishes, for cleaning grooves and things, so that hasn't bothered me. I have just finished watching the included DVD. The recipe demos are very good at showing the many uses and versatility of this FP, but the lady chef is exhausting to watch! She does everything at lightning speed, with no mistakes or thinking (or getting all the food out of bowls, ugh!). Don't anyone feel inferior – it's just the magic of video editing.
