Review submitted for Dakota Alert DCPA-2500 Duty Cycle Probe Alert 2500 ft (DAKDCPA2500)
Pros: Accurate
Cons:
Other Comments: I have had a different product installed that I have used for about a year and is without saying a peice of "junk". I've installed this Dakota Alert and it has worked fantastic since it was first installed...everytime.. I have even recommended to several people. Can't imagine why I even bought the other (STI #34104)peice of do-do... As the DCPA-2500 Dakota Alarm works first time, everytime.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

Review submitted for Dakota Alert DCPA-2500 Duty Cycle Probe Alert 2500 ft (DAKDCPA2500)
Pros: Sensitive, Easy To Set Up, Compact, Discreet, Excellent They work
Cons:
Other Comments: I have purchased and installed 6 of the Dakota 2500 units with vehicle sensors. They work the first time out of the box. Easy set up . I have them on my driveway 150 feet from house and at my business 2000 feet from office. I don't doubt 2500 ft reception under line of sight conditions. The sensitivity of the sensor is such that it will pick up traffic moving on the street 100 feet from sensor buried 4 " underground. Simply dial back the adjustment . The factory setting is probably the best. Takes less than hour to install. Depends on how easy soil is to dig . Mulch beds are easy . Electricians plastic wire ties are handy for securing sensor lead wire to transmitter location.

Review submitted for Dakota Alert DCPA-2500 Duty Cycle Probe Alert 2500 ft (DAKDCPA2500)
Pros: Long range, Easy to bury probe, 5 relay outputs
Cons: Needed longer cable, Battery holder funky
Other Comments: So far so good. It's been installed about 2 weeks now and works well. I estimate the distance from the probe to my house at about 1800 feet as the crow flies and the signal appears to be good over that distance. It is line of sight this time of the year with leaves gone from the trees. We'll see how it works this spring when things get green I didn't like the fact that different cable lengths were not available. I had to buy 25 additional feet of UF low voltage cable to complete the run from the probe to the transmitter. But maybe most people don't have a problem with that. The battery holder in the transmitter is a mystery. It is set up to hold 8 AA batteries, but it is loose inside the box and there is no way to fasten it in place. It looks like it was added as an afterthought, but it doesn't appear to affect the operation at this point. I would also like to see an option for the red light which comes on when a vehicle triggers the area alarm to stay on until reset. It shows only when the alarm is sounding. I would like to know if someone came in the drive while we were away. I'm satisfied with its operation at this point. The probe and underground wire has survived several heavy rains and is still working great. If we get snow like we did last year, there could easily be two feet over the probe at some point so it will be interesting to see if it still picks up vehicles. Also like the fact it was made in USA (probably with Chinese parts)

1 out of 5 stars   Only worked 2 days

Pros: Good idea and good specs
Cons: Only worked for 2 days, Unreliable
Other Comments: I set the probe up about 1000 ft. down the driveway for early warning. It was installed well within the specs and the transmitter was in line of sight of the receiver. It worked well for 2 days, but started missing vehicles after that. I worked with Dakota tech support for some time trying to make it work, but it didn't. I sent it back to Beach Camera a week ago, but I haven't heard back from them.
