With this in mind, its optical quality like color and resolution, and focusing speed, is extremely good. It is several levels higher than the 18-55 kit lens, and other cheap lens, like Tamron 70-300 macro. please understand I am still using these two good and affordable lenses. I just use 100mm Macro as my reference lens for optical quality, for its intended purpose such as flowers and insect, and for kids sports and casual play, where I have time and control of distance.
