Other Comments: I researched this lens extensively. I was aware of the auto focus failure but saw so many good reviews on amazon that I jumped. My copy was defective. It is amazing that canon knows about these problems but doesn't change the design or improve on their quality control. The issue with my lens is that it does not focus through the finder. Up close it rear focuses. Past 10 feet it front focuses. Very frustrating. I never had this issue with a canon lens. Thank goodness Buydig honors their exchange policy and I should be getting another one in the mail soon. One thing to be aware of is that this lens is not IS. This means hold it really still or tripod it on longer shutter speeds. I have to admit that IS has down right spoiled me.

Other Comments: I liked it as it made a big difference taking indoor photos. You have to zoom with your feet but you get a useable picture in low light conditions. The only dislike was with the non canon hood. It does not reverse to lower the storage height of the lens making it difficult to find a cheap storage bag.
