5 out of 5 stars   Canon 5D Mark III
By CameraBob on May 05, 2014
Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body) (CNEOS5DM3)
Pros: Fantastic camera. I've only used it on two occasions so far, but I'm pleased with the way the camera feels and functions. I have used it to shoot two horse races in changing light conditions and I'm pleased with the way the camera reads the changing light and focuses on horses traveling at 35 mph. I used the auto ISO and was blown away by how little noise there is when using a high ISO. I was using a Canon L series 28 - 300mm lens that gave me a full range of shots, from close-ups to distance.. So far so good.
Cons: This is a full frame camera and some of the lenses I purchased for my Canon 7D are not compatible, but I knew this when I bought it. I'll keep my 7D as a back up and for these lenses.
Other Comments: If you're a heavy user, serious about your photos and invest in good glass. go with this camera. You won't be disappointed. I also recommend using the Canon 28-300mm L series IS lens with this camera as a good all around lens. It's not the fastest lens but the noise on this camera is so low at high ISO it doesn't matter.

5 out of 5 stars   Refurbished Canon EOS 5D III
By Rick on April 28, 2014
Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame Digital SLR Camera 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens Kit (CNEOS5DM3KT1)
Pros: Great camera. Upgraded from a 7D. Love the low sensor noise (compared to 7D) and the dynamic range. Also the silent shutter mode is great. The kit lens 24-105 mm F4 L is quite nice. Have had some success with portraits indoors and landscape shots. The camera and lens were refurbished but in true Canon fashion they were packaged as new.
Cons: Does not have a means to trigger slave speedlites from camera like 7D does. Even without a built-in flash Canon could have included this feature.
Other Comments: Excellent service. Was upgraded to next day delivery automatically after package could not be shipped on first day.

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body) kit with Grip (E43CNEOS5DM3)
Pros: 1080p Video Is A Bonus, Package Price Value, Incredible Autofocus, Customizable Settings, Low light performance
Cons: No built in GPS, No wifi, Price Overall
Other Comments: Good compromise between Landscape and Sports Photography capabilities. Autofocus and Low Light capabilities on par with the best DSLR cameras made. Do you really need more than 22mp?

5 out of 5 stars   What a great upgrade from a 7D
By Mark B on May 12, 2013

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame Digital SLR Camera 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens Kit (CNEOS5DM3KT1)
Pros: Image Quality, 2 memory card slots, Bokeh, Features, Weather resistant, Full frame
Cons: Pricey, Full Frame
Other Comments: I upgraded to the 5D3 from a 7D (which I had been using for about 3 years). I primarily shoot automotive/motorsports stuff, and the 7D was great with 8.5 fps... the 5D3 is a little slower than that, but still fast. The image quality that I'm getting out of the 5D3 is amazing - even when using the same lenses that I used on my 7D (L glass). I love that I can put my eye-fi card in the SD slot, and designate medium sized jpg files to write to that, and full-sized RAW files to write to the CF card. I can then selectively transfer the jpg files from my eye-fi card to my iphone on the fly if I want.. great for posting to Facebook/Instagram while I'm working, or showing a client on the phone/iPad versus the back of the camera. I have "full frame" listed as a pro and a con - here's why. The full frame does not give you nearly as much reach on the long end of your lenses... my 300mm zoom doesn't get in nearly as tight as it used to on my 7D (APS-C sensor)... but on the plus side, the wide angle views are great, and the images quality and bokeh you can get out of the Full Frame is great.

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame Digital SLR Camera 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens Kit (CNEOS5DM3KT1)
Pros: Grip, Menu
Cons: Price
Other Comments: I use this camera to shoot theater and some sports. It is all around camera actually. Just enough to shoot everything well but it is not a specialized camera for landscape or low light like Nikon D800.

5 out of 5 stars   ISO one reason to buy this camera

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame Digital SLR Camera 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens Kit (CNEOS5DM3KT1)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: It was time to upgrade from my Canon T2i for I could not take the shots I wanted. With many choices, price options, and most important if the camera was going to be a huge upgrade $$$, I had one shot, so I took my time researching. I hesitated buying the kit lens that came with this camera :24mm-105mmL f/4 IS USM, simply due to the f/4 aperture. But after playing around with this Mark III camera f/4 no longer mattered. Why? One word, ISO! I was blown away by the photos taken in a dark lit environment that my Rebel T2i could not capture. Most shots in Program mode defaulted to 12800 ISO with clear pics. After these shots I see why f/4 didn't matter and why Canon felt this lens to be a great walk around lens with the Mark III. Aside from the faster chip and other features this camera offers, I believe I made the right choice. Hope this helps.

5 out of 5 stars   Well worth upgrading from the 7D
By Jim on January 16, 2013
Verified Purchase
Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body) (CNEOS5DM3)
Pros: High Iso 128000, Low Noise Pictures, Full frame sensor
Cons: Cost Is Still Steep
Other Comments: Over the years, I've upgraded from the Canon XTI, to the 7D, and now the 5D Mark iii. I couldn't be happier with the 5D. I take a lot of indoor pictures with mixed lighting, and the 5D does far better than the 7D (which wasn't too bad). I also love the built-in ability to process HDR and multiple exposures. Couple this with the full frame sensor, and who can go wrong. If it weren't for the high price, I would have bought this months ago. In retrospect, I should have bought this months ago!!

5 out of 5 stars   Brilliant camera - don't hesitate.

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame Digital SLR Camera 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens Kit (CNEOS5DM3KT1)
Pros: Battery Life, Handling, Build Quality, Low light performance, Pro Autofocus
Cons:
Other Comments: This is what the Mark II should have been. It's better in every respect - low light performance, low-light focus ability (-2ev vs -0.5ev), low noise shadow detail, autofocus performance, build quality, hand feel, visibility, sound, etc. This camera is well worth the price difference from the Mark II. My only complaint is that the new 6D has even better dynamic range (half to full stop) and even better low-light focusing ability (-3ev). But that's a nit - the 5D3 is a brilliant camera without the heft (and astronomical price) of the 1Dx.

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body) (CNEOS5DM3)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: I am not professional photographer but as a photo hobbyist who has been in love with digital photography for 12 years I can tell that it is the best camera I have ever had. I like everything with the camera: amazing low noise picture, fast and precise focusing, HD video, production quality, etc. The only exception is "Instruction manual". I have never seen a perfect manual for any camera but it would be good to add to the expensive camera like EOS 5D Mark III a video tutorial.

Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body) (CNEOS5DM3)
Pros: Best
Cons: none
Other Comments: I have been Pro Photographer for past 7 yrs and my Canon Mark 3 is by far the best I have ever owned. It is AMAZING. I want to hug every person that told me to not buy the Mark 2 and wait till I can afford the Mark 3.. Best advice i ever got. I want to thank Beach for making it even more possible with their killer one day daily deal. I saved over 550.00 and did not have to worry since I have ordered from Beach before with great results. This holiday season just became a whole lot better with my Mark 3 by my side.

5 out of 5 stars   First Full-Frame Camera - Loving It
By EZ Ed on October 30, 2012
Verified Purchase
Review submitted for Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body) (CNEOS5DM3)
Pros: Viewfinder, Full-frame Detail, Customization
Cons: Habit-forming, Expensive
Other Comments: The setup and handling of the 5DIII is very similar to my 7D - they make a great pair. While I will use it primarily for landscapes, it should work out well for high-ISO indoor sports shooting. Accessories seem overpriced - e.g.: the vertical grip is $120 more (street price) than my 7D grip. One downside: full-frame sensors have a larger image circle than crop sensors, which use the "sweet spot" of the L-series lenses. Therefore, shooting wide open with full-frame sensor bodies will cause soft edges and corners.

Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: The 600EX-RT is great. The 5DIII is a 5DII with an AF system, nothing special in the sensor department. They should have called it the 5DmkIIn... Recommended only at Beach Camera's sale price :) 5DIII not recommended at full retail price!
