Review submitted for LG BD590 250GB HD Network Blu-Ray Disc Player Kit (E1LGBD590)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: I never give a product more than 3 stars until I've had it long enough to determine its value. Exactly what description states. Slight problem with maintaining internet connection and we have roadrunner; but we dont use that option often. Downloaded grandbabies movies from my ipod/laptop so I wouldn't loose them-all there. Great for storing movies you don't want to loose.

Review submitted for LG BD590 250GB HD Network Blu-Ray Disc Player Kit (E1LGBD590)
Pros: Easy Set Up, Excellent signal quality, Fast Netflix Hulu setup, Easy to configure, Networks automatically
Cons: Menus are a bit laggy, Limited use for HDD, No 3D support, Some playlist problems
Other Comments: We have a mixed Mac - PC network with 4TB of media on 2 media server setups (TVersity and Windows Streaming), and various boxes running Win7, XP64, Server 08, a Power Mac (Leopard) AND Snow Leopard iMac, so our network can be a little finnicky for new 'neighbors'. The BD590 found the network (we hard wired) and joined instantly, found both media servers and largely set itself up. 10 minutes later Netflix and Hulu were configured. Immediately recognized and read a USB HD AND the NAS on the router - very impressive as only some of our PCs can access the NAS. Win7 streaming and TVersity both work perfectly, although this unit illustrated a need to better organize folders and media as the menu navigation is a little wanting. The media listing is slow, the menus lag and seem less than fully responsive, and sorting or searching is frustrating, but still usable, and probably would be fine if we didn't have 50K+ files to scan through. Upconvert varies depending on the DVD used, but approaches HD with most media. Have not tried DVD-R's yet, but so far it does everything it's supposed to effortlessly. Audio is easy to set up, and it outputs HDMI and separate digital at once which we needed. If I have a complaint it's the limited usefulness of the HDD as we will not rip any CDs to the HDD with 400GB of MP3s already on our network. Would have liked the ability to store purchased DL or streaming content on the internal HDD, but it's easy to see why they would limit this function. Also, 250GB is small by current standards. A 250GB runs about 50, while 2TB drives can be had for a c-note so it seems a poor place to shave cost, but it is a nice feature. There are people modding these with larger HDDs, but I loves me some warranty. 3D seemed like a non-issue until we actually watched it, but the PS3 we already have in the system bridges that gap. Anyone without a PS3 may want to consider waiting for a 3d capable sibling. Overall, I would heartily recommend, and the price point was amazing to boot. Easily worth much more.

Pros: The kit was a great add
Cons:
Other Comments: The BD player was much cheaper than any electronic store chain! The kit option was well worth the additional money! Each item individually would have added an additional $100 if purchased separately. I now have an optical audio cable and component cables that actually work for my component TV. This is the first time I have been able to actually use my surround sound and TV the way it was intended!
