It's quick and takes great pictures. The HD video has been impressive, but I recommend an external microphone to reduce/eliminate the autofocus noise (or use manual focus). It is a big improvement over the Sony a100. Many more useful features along with HD video. Very fast image processing which allows up to 12 pictures a second with a high speed SD card. It has both a viewfinder and a bright large LCD articulated viewing screen. So far only one minor complaint. The a57 will not accept a100 batteries even though they are electrically the same. The a57 batteries will work in the a100. The difference is the a57 requires a grove in the top of the battery which the a100 battery does not have. It would have been nice if Sony had made the a57 compatible with the a100 batteries. Be very careful buying aftermarket batteries for the a57 since I have seen some advertising that states it uses the same battery as the a100.
