Its rugged contruction is top notch. Although the controls are easy to learn, the buttons are a bit too small to operate while wearing gloves. The image quality is quite acceptable. Yes, there are better performing cameras similar to the WG-1, but they cost twice as much. Price and features makes this an excellent choice for the budget kinded adventurer. Are there other cameras out there that deliver better quality images? Yes. But they cost almost twice the price of the Pentax WG-1. I have used a previous version of this camera backpacking, motorcycling and canoeing without any problems. My only negative comments are that the control buttons are a bit too small to operate and scrolling through the menu options to select a specific mode can be a bit time consuming.
