Pros: Light & easy to carry. Takes fairly good stills and focus. Movies are fairly good; for a cheap video camera it does quite well.
Cons: Wish it came with the pouch made for it. Viewer screen is small, but that's because the camera is small. Video auto focus has some trouble on moving objects. Wish the lens cover opened and shut when the camera was turned on and off. Wish the still camera had a 1.5 picture size instead of the 1.7. 1.7 doesn't work well with my photo collection. 1.3 is too narrow for most pictures. Movies and pictures tend to be on the dark side and need to use editing software to improve the pictures and movies.

2 out of 5 stars   Limited video format

Review submitted for Sony HDR-CX440 Full HD 60p Camcorder Deluxe Bundle (E2SNHDRCX440B)
Pros: Lightweight and compact, built in USB cable.
Cons: Default video file format is MTS. To get an MP4 output format, you need to be in "dual video" mode which consumes twice the storage space. If you use the included software to convert from MTS format to MP4, it takes FOREVER, and the software is only compatible on Windows 7 and higher. On a 32GB microSD card, you can only record about 90 minutes in the best video quality in "dual video" mode. Sony should have allowed the option to record in either format, but your choices are MTS, or MTS/MP4 combined. Bad design. If you record in the lowest resolution, you can only record about 5.5 hours in dual video mode with 32GB. Other con is the still pictures are pretty much worthless. They are so grainy (even in good light), that they are not worth keeping. I tried taking them in the higher quality mode, but they are still super grainy. I bought this Sony because I was very happy with my previous Sony which had a 60GB hard drive. I much prefer the built-in hard drives rather than removable media. My old camera shot action video much better. This one does poorly on rapid movement. For example, we shot video of my son going down a water slide on a sunny day, and the picture was very jumpy, even when shooting in the higher quality resolution modes. Overall, I am very disappointed with this camera. The price was right, but then again, I guess you get what you pay for.
