Pros: I am a hobbyist photographer that started with manual match needle SLR's in the mid 1970's. This kit is an upgrade for me from a 10 year old Minolta 7HI. The build quality is good. The price was in line with offerings from other suppliers, but BuyDig offered a better package with a higher capacity SD card and other aftermarket kit items than the other online shops. I haven't had the time to get to know the camera very well, just enough to be dangerous, learning how to take photos and videos using the automatic modes. The camera weight is light in your hands. The grip is comfortable. It didn't take much time for me to quickly skim the owners manual, take it out of the box and start shooting.
Cons: I would have purchased a second battery if BuyDig offered Nikon brand batteries for this camera. I only saw aftermarket versions, and my wife warned me that there were many complaints about compatibility issues with aftermarket batteries after a recent Nikon firmware update on their DSLRs'. Even though the price was attractive on these aftermarket batteries, I didn't want to take a chance with purchasing an item that may not be fully compatible. I have to get used to the mostly menu driven option selections. I was very comfortable using all the Minolta's real push buttons for settings. I miss having a focus ring on the lens for manual mode.
Other Comments: Shipping was extremely quick. One day turnaround after I cleared up some issues with my credit card company, who flagged the purchase as possible fraud attempt based on my past credit card usage. Once I contacted BuyDigs billing department they resubmitted the charge and completed the transaction. The billing dept. closes at 5PM EST/EDT. If you miss the cutoff even by a minute you have to call in the next day. This must be an inconvenience for potential buyers in other time zones.
