Pros: Lightweight Full-sized Pc, Not too heavy, Beats By Dre Speakers, Stays cool to the touch, Budget Gaming, Clear display, Not Heavy For A 173, Battery Life
Cons: Fkeys Not Dedicated, Windows 8
Other Comments: Haven't tried intense graphics games, but it plays Bioshock and Need for Speed the Run without stutter or slowing. Radeon HD7640G is decent for the price of the laptop. The Beats speakers are clear and crisp for movies, music, and games. My laptop is my TV, and usually I need headphones or external speakers to truly enjoy a movie. But these speakers have terminated my external speakers, and headphones now are only if I need private listening. Plus there's a Beats Audio Control Panel to fine tune sound for music and video, and includes a graphic equalizer panel along with bass and treble boost to suit anyone's audio preferences. In terms of mobility, battery life is pretty good. I've had a few laptops, and where most would start flashing a warning that I need to connect to AC, this one would still have about 25%-30% left. It doesn't get hot at all (provided adequate breathing room). After a couple of hours, many laptops begin to get hot on the left side, but this one is only slightly warm to the touch. Not so excited about Windows 8. It does boot a lot faster than Win7 (power button to login in about 10 secs). Most of what you can do in Win7, you can do in Win8, but you have to develop new habits. I dont use a lot of icons, so I became dependent on the Start button(which was removed from Win8) for everything from finding apps and files, to searches and shutdowns. The same amount of clicks that got you to your destination in Win7 is the same amount in Win8, but the clicks are someplace different. After you get used to having to change directions, you will begin to notice some of the enhancements to Win8 that make it worth learning. The only real problem I can't work around is that the Function keys have lost priority over the Fn keys (volume, wifi, brightness, etc). Say you're playing a game where F9 might be to swap weapons. Because F9 is also the VOL- key, you'll be simultaneously swapping weapons and lowering the volume. Where you used to have to hold down the Fn key while holding down the volume button, now although the fn key is still there, it seems pointless.
