  Good Machine, too thin (cheap) glass By MikeStudioCity on July 01, 2012 Review submitted for Krups XP1020 750-Watt Steam Espresso Machine with Glass Carafe (KRXP1020) Pros: Quick Brewing, Easy To Use, Quiet Cons: Unreliable Other Comments: This machine operates just fine for the price point a my occasional use, which is Saturday and Sunday. Big problem: The carafe is so cheap - too thin of glass utilized resulting in a highly fragile piece for kitchen use. Hot water and a slight bump agains the sink and it's broke. I just ordered my third carafe from Krups - with shipping this cheap (thin glass) small carafe is over twenty five dollars. So I have now spent more replacing carafes than on the machine. Checked the obvious retailers and no one seems to stock replacements. Krups could spend about 50 cents on material cost to source a better grade (heavier) glass. Carafe does not delivery on the promise of the Krups brand. Next time I give up on the esthetics in the kitchen and keep using my Pyrex measuring cup! Seems I purchase a new carafe about every 6 months. The representative at the large national chain indicated that I was not the first customer to come in seeking out a new Krups carafe for the small machine.
