I was not aware the unit lifted from the heating element & was sceptical. However the unit has performed beyond expectations. The unit opens the coffee buds better than any percolator I have owned & keeps the brew hotter after brewing with much improved taste & less after taste. I could not be more pleased with the product, price & Beach Cameras' service. Melitta is well represented by this supplier.
