Review submitted for Midland X-TRA TALK GMRS 2-Way Radio with 24-Mile Range (MLLXT480VP3)
Pros:
Cons: Complicated Controls, Poor Reception, Drains Battery, Difficult To Program, Short Range
Other Comments: I purchaced these for the NOAA weather system. That part sucks too. This is rated for a 24 mile range. It would be lucky to make it 24 feet. aa

Review submitted for Midland X-TRA TALK GMRS 2-Way Radio with 24-Mile Range (MLLXT480VP3)
Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight
Cons: Short Range, Poor Reception
Other Comments: I use it mainly for Hiking and airsoft games. It's receptions gets pretty choppy in the trees and we can only be around 1 mile apart. a little farther it would be lots of interference...etc Yet for it's price, it's a nice handy tool around the house. Clearing the gutters, attics and basements.

1 out of 5 stars   Busted out of Box
By Joe on June 22, 2010

Review submitted for Midland X-TRA TALK GMRS 2-Way Radio with 24-Mile Range (MLLXT480VP3)
Pros: Junk
Cons: Junk
Other Comments: Right out of the box one unit stayed in the receive mode and is therefore useless. A call to Midland tech support was fruitless. I was told to return the entire package to the seller. The packaging has to be destroyed in order to get the units out. So how can you return it, in pieces? And what if the seller doesn't want it back? For the thirty or so bucks it cost me I said the hell with it and dumped it in the garbage.

Review submitted for Midland X-TRA TALK GMRS 2-Way Radio with 24-Mile Range (MLLXT480VP3)
Pros: Rugged, Good Audio, Easy To Use, Clear Signal, Lightweight
Cons:
Other Comments: Used 2 of these LXT480VP3 radios along with headsets for motorcycles ... plus another 2 radios ... GXT740VP3. 4 people over a range of about 1 mile in rolling terrain ... worked well. We did not like the dial volume control or the larger size of the GXT740VP3 radios so we have just purchased another set of the LXT480VP3 model. For talking within a small riding group ... the LXT480VP3 offers voice activation and plenty of range. The headsets using voice activation was sometimes difficult due to a slight lag in activating the transmission with your first words.
