5 out of 5 stars   lens
By Jake on October 06, 2014
Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: I have used this lens and I am pleased with the pictures. Working with BuyDig was a lot easier than tying to buy the same lens on the Nikon site in which I gave up on. I liked the quick delivery too.

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor - Factory Refurbished (NK70300AFSVRRB)
Pros: Very cost effective lens
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: From what I can tell so far, a great value in a lens from Nikon. For now (at least), this is my take-with lens, leaving the heavier, bulkier ones behind.

4 out of 5 stars   Very good lens

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: Overall, this is a very good lens. I bought it to replace my 55-200mm. In comparison 70-300mm is a bit sharper, but not at the ends(around 70mm and 300mm). You get the zoom, and I love it, but it's not very sharp. If you don't need anything over 200mm I would recommend to get 55-200mm - you will save money and it is much lighter.

5 out of 5 stars   My fantastic zoom lens!

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Strong Construction, Easily Interchangeable, Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Durable, Rugged
Cons:
Other Comments: I absolutely love this zoom lens!!!! The other day I took pictures of the waves crashing against our seawall (we live on a lake) and I got some of the most amazing shots. I would not have been able to do that with the regular lens on my camera. I couldn't be more happy with it!!! And when I decided I wanted this, I went directly to Beach Camera. They are great!

5 out of 5 stars   Worth the money

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Strong Construction, Durable, Consistent Output, Rugged, Easily Interchangeable
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: This thing is wonderful! I use it mainly for my children's sports activities with great results. I have taken around 2000 pictures with it to date and only 4 or 5 of those were not in focus. However, I would blame this on myself and not the lens. For the money, I would definitely recommend this lens to anyone who needs to reach out a little further to get the shots they need. I have added a picture taken using this lens at the US Nationals of a car running over 200 MPH at a distance of about 250 to 300 yards.

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Consistent Output
Cons:
Other Comments: My two focuses are on wildlife and my granddaughter's sports. The lens functions beautifully in both realms. I've had the lens about a month and taken well over a thousand images. Quality has been excellent. I opted for this lens over the 50-200 which is more expensive and certainly have not been disappointed with my choice.

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Nice Bokeh, Easily Interchangeable, Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: Excellent pictures. A bit soft at 300mm. No zoom creep. Fast focusing. A bit heavy but you will get used to it. With VR, one can shoot a lot of usable pictures at low light or with the polarizing filter.

4 out of 5 stars   Fine Lens

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Strong Construction, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable
Cons:
Other Comments: The lens is generally good. I haven't used it extensively but it seems exceptional until I hit 300mm. I can't tell if the slight softness is atmospheric or a limitation of the lens. Higher f stops will improve it slightly. I bought the lens to extend the range of my 18-200 VRII. I'm not sure if I would recommend it for this purpose. Also, the first one I was sent had auto focus issues. The replacement was perfect.

5 out of 5 stars   Exactly what I wanted

Review submitted for Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor, With Nikon 5-Year USA Warranty (NK70300AFSVR)
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable
Cons:
Other Comments: Picked this up before a vacation because I wanted more telephoto than my 18-135 lens offered, wanted VR so that I wouldn't need a tripod, and didn't want to lug an 80-200/2.8 around because of the weight. This is much lighter than the 80-200 and offers more bang for the buck as a vacation lens. I'm using it on a D80 body, so any full-frame edge sharpness issues it may have don't come into play. 67mm filter thread means I can use the same polarizer I use with my kit lens. I was able to shoot ~1/15 sec exposures handheld at the 300mm focal length with good results. This even worked well shooting jellyfish at an aquarium since I didn't have to be close to the exhibit or the throngs of kids that wanted a close look. The only thing that's annoyed me so far is the fact that when the lens hood is mounted in the "stored" position (reversed), the zoom ring is hard to grab when at the 70mm setting. Yeah, it's not the best choice for shooting fast-moving objects with low light, but that's not why I bought it.
