It works beautifully for that. The f2.8 lets me use higher shutter speeds and/or lower ISO for better results than I was getting. I also use it for some wildlife photography, again being able to use higher shutter speeds. The autofocus is quick and accurate. The minor con: it's a real hassle to have to remove the lens to take off (or put on) the tripod mount. The quality of the images is outstanding. Great color, great dynamics. This lens focuses quickly letting me capture not only the bird but the motion of the wings based on the various alertness. This is a grea lens for out doors.
