  Earned My Confidence By Outdoor Enthusiast on May 20, 2013 Review submitted for Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 Waterproof Shockproof Freezeproof Digital Camera (Black) (OMTT8010KRB) Pros: Quick Start Up Time, Easy to Use Cons: Short Battery Life Other Comments: I bought this camera almost a year ago and have been EXTREMELY happy with it. I have dropped it many times and it will turn off when dropped but always restarts. (some drops may just have been tests :P) Also it has great start up time. I saw some deer and they took off. I unpocketed it, fired it up, and snapped a pic before the deer could get to cover and even on the run it shot perfect clear pictures in automatic mode. This camera is heavier than my friends Coolpix (comparable in every way... same zoom/mega pixels/start up time/features) but is still light enough I don't hesitate to pack it up a summit. The dust seals must work because I have taken it caving many many times (the main reason I bought a tough camera) And this last weekend it passed it's final test for me when hiking to some rock pools. Not only did it operate wet and underwater... but it filmed while I was cliff diving from 25 feet high over and over no problems. It has held up in all conditions for me. I have yet to take it to extreme cold (I live in a desert) but I would feel very confident in doing so. Here are the cons (totally worth dealing with) -battery life (buy an extra if you plan on being out multiple days or filming a lot) -panoramic has trouble stitching together picture with varying elevation (on a summit where surrounding mountains all slope down) It seems to pick closer points for reference and wants you to move straight across. Which doesn't work when your points of reference and consistently lower and lower -stability while filming (could just be me, but I don't think my hands are that shaky... not as bad if you don't zoom) Yes, I recommend this product Was this review helpful?     |     Report this review

Price vs. features is a great value. Flash is much better than others. I LOVE that it is sturdy and wont ruin the device if accidentally dropped.
