I'm 65 years old. I remember as a little kid that my grandmother had a Waring blender that looked a lot like this one. It was still working when she died, and someone in the family has it. We've had quite a few blenders; they had lots of 'speeds', of which I only used one and none lasted very long. This Osterizer has a slower speed pulse function by pressing the switch down, and a higher speed continuous function by flipping the switch up. Whatever, you won't need to mess with it much, it can make up a batch of smoothies in about 5 seconds! Thats way faster than any blender I've used before. I'm a function over form kind of person, but this unit is very nice looking as well; solid & simple. If you clean it right after you use it it only takes a minute or two.
